Nicholls looking like he's not going to last long.
Famous last words maybe.
Hope so.

I see a comment in the Cricinfo feed that these two are probably under the most pressure in the NZ line-up, but with Rossco's impending departure, I think that pressure is pretty minimal. Henry has had a short lean sequence, but right now he's still averaging fractionally under 40 for past 12 months, and we don't drop people with that form (let's face it - someone with a career average of 39 will probably make our all-time second XI).
Mitch Jr. might be slightly unlucky in his timing.
Blundell goes....

Marvellous standing ovation for Sir Ross Taylor when he walked out to bat.
Good thing I spent most of the day at the ground, as the Shithouse Spark Sport app has lagged several times in the ten minutes since weโve been home.
I seem to have the opposite experience from you with the apps - I find the Sky Sport app laggy as fuck, particularly when I play it on my T.V. (if I play it via my PS4 it is marginally better), whereas the Spark Sport app is smooth as. I also absolutely loathe the fact that the Sky Sport app still acts as if you are watching it on the box rather than streaming with no option to play from the start. That caught me out with an ABs game that I was 30 minutes late for, just took me straight to half time with no way of watching from the beginning.

And Nicholls is holding the innings together at the moment.
Hopefully someone can stay with him and push us over350.Blundel Is not the best WK in NZ and is struggling with the bat over the last 12 months.
If he drops a few in this series he maybe under a heap of pressure. -
Back to the cricket, our batsmen have done enough given the strength of our bowling lineup and inexperience of their top order. I'd be surprised if they manage much more than 200, but stranger things have happened.
Conway's stats are looking damn good at all levels across all formats. He's a real class act, we really could have used him in the T20 final to back Kane up. I hope the rest of the team gave him all sorts of grief over that.

@no-quarter I've written many times before that 220/4 is a solid benchmark par for the first innings - pretty much regardless of conditions (barring a minefield) or opposition. So we're marginally ahead of the game right now - 220/4 translates to 300 if your lower order falls apart, or 450+ if they make hay.
I don't really expect the Bangles to flourish though, so par should be enough!

Could've done without Blundell's wicket.
However I'd be disappointed if end up less than 350 with the batting we hgave left.

Cleaver would be next in line and he looks like quite a good batsman, maybe better than Blundell.

Cleaver and Cam Fletcher would be the next in line.
Blundel is not very good standing up to the wkt,He is stagnet,Doesnโt use his feet, more his hands so takes the ball outside his body,Causing him to miss stumping chances and dropping a few catches ,
Because he is often out of position.
Weak on his left side standing back uses his right foot to launch instead of footwork , so gets beaten on leg side to the RH bats. -
@Chris agree completely re: Blundell, he's really there to try and plug the hole BJ left with the bat. BJ ended up being world class behind the stumps as well though which doesn't often get talked about. Regardless of who replaced him they were going to be a step down in one of the disciplines.

Maybe a step down on 2 disciplines, problems he needs to fix to be consistent at test level,IMO.
On BJ yeah he is a bigger loss than a lot of people realise with bat and the gloves.

@chris tried to keep a bit myself back in the day. Very low level regional club stuff.
My cricket heroes were keepers, especially Smithy.
(One of my greatest cricketing moments was a hat trick, stumped, caught behind, stumped ... in 4th form .)
And learned a shit load from a Bob Taylor book a mate lent me. How to keep down leg while standing up ... etc
Was never really any good standing up to anyone who wasn't really really slow.
But my opinion is that you need the best guy behind the stumps you can.
So if Blundell is an only an OK kinda batsman and only an OK kinda keeper I'm on the lookout for a better keeper.

Kylo got a life then used it to hole out in the deep. We could be bowling soon
Wasn't great from the sith lord. His batting seems to have fallen off a cliff lately.
He started so hot, only way was down. Doesn't seem super comfy against the spinners. I'm no expert, but should he take a big step down the pitch to them? Every ball would basically be a full toss ๐
