But then again this is hardly a golden age for heavyweight boxing, far from it. Much as I love Fury, Wilder and Joe himself I don’t think they’d be anything more than footnotes if they fought from the 70’s through til the 2000s.
I seem to remember Fury himself saying something along those lines. Certainly wasn't backing himself to beat the historical greats.

Yeah he’s the best of his era and good on him but off the top of my head I don’t think he’d beat Liston, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Norton, Holmes, Shavers, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe or any number of other pugilists from that era.

Very impressed with Joe today , chisora is a very tough man ,
Joe Planted his feet and let his hands go with bad intentions and we haven’t seen that for some time .
Andy Lee has worked wonders with him , tactically and with his confidence, looks a different fighter , well done

2 or 3 knockdowns and 1 judge had him winning by 2 points , fucken ludicrous

@kiwiinmelb Chisora won 3 rounds max (I had him winning 1). 117-108 was the best Chisora could have hoped for with competent judges.

Does he really though ? Like I said earlier I do love Joe but we’ve heard this a few times before lets be honest.

Andy Lee comes from the Kronk gym where they specialise more on the offensive side of the game and you saw it yesterday where he was sitting down on his shots and seemed to have more power with the extra weight behind him and was willing to stand and trade in the pocket which Barry seemed to have taught out of him in recent years. The uppercut worked wonders for him, a shot we haven't seen often enough in his career so far, but he threw it with venom and it hurt Chisora throughout the fight. Dropping an extremely durable Chisora 3 times is an achievement in itself as he is near impossible to hurt unless you carry 1 punch KO power.
Under Barry, he fought more off the backfoot and was starting to struggle offensively with his gameplan during fights became very one dimensional to the point where he didn't have a plan b and would run out of ideas. Lee and his team seem to have had more success so far.

Sweet. I didn’t see the fight obviously so I didn’t know. If he can maintain these improvements it will benefit him but I heard he’s retiring pretty soon ?

Watched yesterday and was pretty impressed with Joe. Seemed almost a different fighter vs what he’s done in recent times. Still have doubts that he really has the punching power (Chisora can sure take a punch though) but could this be Joes second coming? Age wise he’s probably near his prime now. Has a chance to kick on here so hope he can continue to advance his career.
Saw Nkiyas fight too. He looked pretty good but other guys was mud and took a battering in that first round. Wasn’t surprised when he didn’t come back out

100 per cent he looked different , his range of punches , had an aggressive attitude we havnt seen since the days when he was knocking over nobodies , it was like when the quality of fighters went up , Barry pulled in the reigns and became scared of losing ,
ive been his biggest critic , i wanted him to do so well because he is a kiwi but found it so frustrating trying to work out what the hell they were trying to achieve ,
Andy has given him a new lease of life , not making any wild predictions , far from it , but win lose or draw , its going to be more enjoyable supporting him now , looks like they will have a red hot crack

Interesting article and how it mentions the trilogy may have taken years off their lives. I’m a huge fan of both fighters and what they’ve brought to the sport.
Ali had trilogies with Frazier and Norton and they died at 74, 67 and 70 respectively.
As for Fury and Wilder I can imagine them actually getting on brilliantly under all the bullshit and bravado. They need to watch more TV though, FOURTEEN kids between them !!!!!!
