Why didn't Warner bat? Is he injured or protecting his average?

    Injured.

Got whacked in the ribs. Was off the field too long to bat.

Aus trying to pretend ... err say they're not broken.

Conjecture whether he's up to the next test.

OK good, thanks. I wasn't watching, glad it wasn't a cop out. And to be fair to him, despite all his faults, he doesn't seem the kind to shirk the duty

    Sigh. All too predictable.
May I do a Glenn McGrath and predict 5-0 to Aus?

    You may.

Looking at England they've still got quality - scoring 300ish in the second innings is a solid performance - but Australia found a way to come back.

With Warner probably broken and a couple of the bowlers already looking a bit shabby, the question is whether they can do it again.

Australia are a strange mix of freakishly good and complete journeymen. Who will open if Warner is gone @NTA ?

I do like how you’re trying to be magnanimous but the truth is this English team is out of its depth here.

Am not @NTA but ABC radio comms were thinking Khawaja.

Quality player. You’d think he’d be in the mix somewhere.

Warner's injury is probably the only thing that saves Harris.

Nice try mate but your kit are still unbackable favourites.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a turnaround though. The pitch is different. Bowlers will have worked out their plans better. Root may have woken up in his captaincy etc etc.
It is cricket and stranger things have happened.

    @crucial

Our attack consists of two guys that are legends but so old they need to be “managed”. Plus Stokes who can come up with the goods occasionally but has had no cricket and Robinson who is a guy who is not yet trusted.

Our batting is all about one man.

    We have mediocrity in depth.

I’m not sure I’d call Anderson or Broad “legends”……I mean they’re third and sixth on the all time test wicket takers list but that’s probably down to extreme longevity ( which is still to be admired ) more than anything.

Hazlewood ruled out of the Adelaide Test - @mariner4life instantly loses his stiffy.

Australia suffers injury blow with Josh Hazlewood ruled out of Adelaide Test

Australia suffers injury blow with Josh Hazlewood ruled out of Adelaide Test

With Hazlewood to miss the Adelaide Test through injury, the door has been opened for one of Australia's most exciting young bowlers to make his Ashes debut.

    Bogan Name warning:

Jhye Richardson is probably favoured to replace him but Michael Neser just took a Michelle and averaged 9.28 with the ball in a MOTM performance against the English B team

I think every bloke on earth has done that no matter what the level of cricket they were playing.

@nta Richardson has more pace and probably a little more along in terms of his development, but I’m hearing that Neser is a bit of a gun with the pink ball.

If I were an Oz selector I’d get rid of Harris and open with Kawaja
