Not an easy pitch to keep on but Blundell is not as tidy as Watling was

Turns out @Rapido and I were both right and both wrong. It was a good call to play both Kyle and Southee, but we should have played 3 seamers instead.

fun fact: southee took 7/64 in 2012 in Bangalore. I think Rossco was captain back then.

    Respect.

The graphic they flashed up before said he had 48 wickets at 23 against India. Which would explain why he's playing!

@nzzp Test match bowling is a mix of strike power and craft. Can’t replace that time in the middle. He keeps himself fit and keeps turning up and delivering.

I do remember a few years ago when Southee was dropped by Stead ( apparently with agreement from Williamson ) for Henry when he was vice captain.

We should roll the tail quickly.

Then when we bat the question is what is the correct strategy? I would have thought we bat once and bat big. Score 550-600 and then look to roll the Indians for a not much.

The path to victory is clear.

Ashwin can bat, he’s no tail ender.

You and me both. I posted on here that Southee would get five yesterday, unfortunately my dial up connection timed out and it didn’t load properly.

An interesting morning. I'd expected our spin bowling to be weak and our pace to do okay-ish. I just hadn't expected our spin bowling to be quite as ineffective, or for all the wickets to come from pace.

Perhaps Wags in for Patel in game two. On the grounds that all our our spin bowling is a holding pattern at best, so may as well go for the strongest batting...

Jamiesons figures have taken a ( relative to his previous standards ) hammering today……whereas Southee obviously had a bloody good handy shandy or whatever last night, what a turnaround.

Our “spinners” all made it onto the pitch at least.

Well, 2-90 is better than 0-90.

The other two better pull finger in the next innings.
