I know it's @Tim thread, so his rules, but doesn't the presence of Def Leppard and Motley Crue derail it completely going by those rules? I'm less bogan than most of you lot on here and I wouldn't be embarrassed playing those two.
I’ll fight you on the Motley Crüe one. They were a joke of a band, no-talent poseurs. I don’t care how popular they were, they were rubbish. Nobody who was cool liked them. I wasn’t cool and even I didn’t like them.
But Kickstart My Heart is a hoot.
Bill The Cat was inspired by Motley Crue and he's the coolest dude who ever... lived

Almost a Golden era for Hair/Glam rock, the mid - late 80's.
You had Poison, Motley Crue, Guns n Roses, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Aeromsith plus more im missing.
All to be drowned out so to speak when Grunge came along just a few years later..
Not the Gunners. They survived the Grunge induced holocaust. Trouble is they broke up shortly after. Bon Jovi also seemed to hang in there. But Poison, Motley Crew, Warrant etc were destroyed basically overnight.
Which is a good thing.
All the band mentioned sound dated as all fuck nowadays except the Gunners. Appetite for Destruction still sounds pretty timeless in my opinion.
Even so they weren’t without their flaws. The Spagetti album was pretty shite.
Yep, they were on another level. Interestingly Slash auditioned for Poison but wasn't considered to have the right look or some shit. Which probably says everything about that band. I have to say that Every Rose, Fallen Angels and Skinny Bop are decent enough songs but Motley Crew has no redeeming features IMHO. That Girls song is fĹŻcking shit.
An honourable mention is Europe (Final Countdown). And speaking of Sweden, I wonder if anyone is brave enough to admit to liking ABBA....
The two blokes from Abba were pop songwriting geniuses. I will hear no argument on this. My favourites are The Winner Takes It All, SOS and Gimme Gimme Gimme. Fab.
Indeed. They'd had huge success in Sweden even before ABBA was created. Some great tunes in Chess as well.
Further on Sweden I still carry a candle for Roxette. Alot of shit, but some nice tunes as well.

I officially don't get this thread - how the fuck are Duran Duran on here?
I can't agree more. Duran Duran are worse than Motley Crue. Hungry Like a Wolf is every colour of shit.

I think you need to remove the like you gave my post, I think the opposite, I don't think Duran Duran is uncool, and I don't think their music is shit.

Don't forget Whitesnake!
Love them featured in Old School as Frank the Tank's favourite band
