@canes4life Proctor isn't as bad as you continually make out.
Warning: Obligatory rant about the Canes not picking Magpies.
For the Magpies count, with IWL injured for the season it is two. The best performing NPC squad in the franchise, with the best performing school teams can get two players in the Canes. Two.
I have three Canes fans here in Oz from the Bay, two have jumped off this season (finally I'd say) while the sole remainer was a Wellington fan in the 80s/90s when HB languished in second division.
This franchise can eat a dick.
I’m not saying he’s bad but him continually being picked is the reason PUJ wasn’t an All Black this year and that’s what frustrates me. PUJ is better and it’s so damn obvious.

Lol if you jump ship you were never a real fan tbh. The Canes have been around long enough to have their own identity not tied to provinces.
Proctor was bad - he's finally starting to come good so I left him off that team sheet.
I left O'Reilly off as as inept as our selections often are, they will pick Coels & Aumua there at least.
The positive of there being barely any Magpie players in this squad is that the thread won’t be littered with comments demanding their selection week in week out.
Go and support another team, we don’t care. The Hurricanes are bigger than the Magpies and most of the signings suggest it doesn’t really matter what province you play for these days.

@canes4life Prepare yourself for yet another season of mediocracy if you are happy with the squad assembled by the Hurricanes selectors.

@higgins apart from a select few it’s a solid squad. There are plenty of Bay players in the squad anyway, I don’t know what you guys are on about.
My count is 6.

You've poked the bear now, if either of Flanders or Rakete Stones isn't selected each week I will have to litter the comments section with, um, a comment about it. I'll also add PUJ sucks too (even though I don't believe it).

My thoughts for what it’s worth..
Very unsure about Tosi as we don’t need another ball running prop we need a scrummager but oh well what do I know. Was always going to get it but don’t think O’Reilly deserves a contract I’d rather they go after someone with more skill (or anyone else).
Happy with Delaney since we couldn’t get Plumtree, unsure about Sangster would rather we went after Caird.
Happy with TK Howden we definitely need so grunt in the loosies unsure about Tyler Laubscher haven’t really seen enough of him to make judgment.
As for Moorby I think we really missed a trick when we could’ve gone after Freedom Vahaakolo, Vereniki Tikoisolomone or even Liam Coombes-Fabling.

@cgrant How likely is that though we’ve never really had a good right five so I’m not holding my breath, can see him not getting a contract next year as Frank’s will take his place.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the ACL injury is the end of his career. He was never particularly mobile - at his age, recovery from that would be a little rough. And he'd be, what, 36? To me, this has the potential to be an the first step for him to move into a coaching role. See if he can motivate these young guys to work hard and see if he can identify weaknesses in their scrummaging technique and fix them.

He has the body type you need for a modern-day 6 and is a good lineout option. So that means that Holland will persist with Prinsep. I'd rate Howden above Delany.

@mikey07 I wonder if big Tosi can become what Uhila was to the Canes in 2016. A big body who can do the job at scrum time and can bring some razzle up front.
A front row bench of Tevita Mafileo, Asafo Aumua and big Tosi could be pretty fun to watch.
I’m really happy with the signing of Howden, he really dominated physically during the NPC. With Ardie, Gibson, Iose and Flanders amongst our loose forwards it really is an area of strength for me. If we can do the job upfront then these guys will flourish.
