On the positive side Mils is a pretty good commentator.
Or maybe it just seems that way compared to Marshall.
Low benchmark.
Indeed.

So what is the deal with the forwards deciding to take it up the guts every now and then, and we suddenly look dominant? Is that them saying to hell with Fosters game plan and just doing what they want? I just don't understand why we wouldn't do it from the get go, we'd wear teams down and then run rampant in the 2nd 40 if we did. But instead we try to play Helter skelter bullshit from the start of the test which opposition defenses just eat up.
They did look a bit camenbert soft when we drove it up the middle.

As with the first test against SA, its the 3rd quarter when we use our big carriers up the middle that we look good.
That 20mins was the main positive
It showed the tactics we need to use next year. We have forwards that can get a roll on around the fringes. It's about using them correctly
Taukei’aho, Akira, Savea etc were excellent during that period. They got us back into the game.We need power in the front row too.
Our biggest issue is that we don't have strong 10s right now and need to reevaluate our kicking game entirely.

Can we bench Marshall? He's a hypocritical twat. Need to do this, need to do that... all things he never did.

We can close down the aura thread.
No one's going to talk about aura for 20 years.

In the post match on field interview Sam Whitelock listens patiently and politely to the extended speeches offered by the reporter doing 90% of the talking!!!

We also need to stop pretending that the current version Super Rugby is producing decent international level tight forwards. Or that Brodie is still “BBBR”, he hasn’t been at quite that level since 2016, and has barely been sighted in Super Rugby since about the 2017 season.
He is not that Brodie but he is still one of the best we have, no?
Having said that, I was watching Strange in the Ta$man Waikato highlights thinking, he looks like quite an athletic lock (in a good way)... -

The first 20 of the 2nd half showed that the players aren't as bad as what they have shown over the last two weeks. We are just being so badly coached.
No amount of coaching can fix brain farts.
Contrast the ability of McCaw's men to wrest a victorious result from this squad. We have a squad that has Havili, Mo'unga and Bridge. We're carrying a loose forward spot for Ardie "highlights" Savea. Players out of form are ushered back into the All Blacks following a sojourn in Japan in TJP and BBBR.
Sam saying we need to learn how to play France in France? WTF
Foster's coaching group is too conservative and too loyal.

Another season ends while thinking "flush that one, hope next year is better".
Three loses in a row against big forward packs (SA, Ireland, France).
Samisoni Taukei'aho is by far the best hooker in the country and needs to be on for 50 minutes, not 30.
Use him and Akira Ioane up the middle, creating quick ball for Savea to rush the fringe with. That's not all the game, but it's a damn good basis for our attack. Would be good to see Scott Barrett supporting that play, he's probably best suited to it. Maybe time to develop a Thorn-like power lock?
Looks like Beauden Barrett is locked in at 10. Keep Rieko at 13, and develop a 12 to partner him.
-
it may surprise all on here but I am not a fan of our coaching tactics. But I don't think we should get personally nasty.
I still think our players are better than the way they played this season or the results, but we don't have the players of yore and the competition has got better. We just have to live with it and probably another poor 2 years. -

Need to re-evaluate a whole lot.
I don't agree we don't have strong 10's - we have confused 10's.
BB was player of the year two years running. Doesn't make him bad.
RM has shown hes great behind a dominant pack, but struggles hard when we're not doing things right.Fuck the NZRU appointing Foster until RWC after just the Aussie games.
Ardie Savea leading the team chat post-game in the huddle.
The only good news is the South Africans turned it around in 12 months, the bad news is I don't think Foster can do it...

Bloody great test, French deserved to win, they had our pack struggling, and DuPont was immense !
Shrewd move though fellas, when was last time we lost 3 tests in a year and 2 in a row?
2009 and we won WC 2 years later , have we set it up??DuPont was damn good wasn't he.

One bad year when we lose 3 games and all of sudden the structures we have that have been so successful for so long are defective.?
Therein may lie the problem - the structures may no longer be free of considerable defects.
There seems a real lack of players who can keep their cool under pressure at Test level. Mo'unga and Havili may look like a million dollars at SR level but really, really struggle under pressure at Test level - as we have seen tonite and in other matches. Ball handling skills in the tight 5 seem to have dropped away as well.

Reminder that there are people who want Foster to stay as head coach.
Who? Where? I haven't seen any
