Talking of Tangerine Dream, a while back I was going to nominate Risky Business as the 80s movie with the best soundtrack. THere was a great Prince track in it called DMSR (Dance, Music, Sex, Romance). And Rebecca De Mornay was in it. -

<p>Oh I loathe train, they are like a millennial version of Hootie and the blowfish or something. But he sounded a fair bit like Plant on what I heard on the radio which surprised me a bit.</p> -

<p>Train are absolutely horrific. Another band of the same ilk as them and Hootie and the Blowfish are the Counting Crows, just god awful fucken music from people who found Rage, GnR, Faith no More, Chillis, Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots a bit aggressive and "rock" like.....the 90s in particular was full of pussy music like that....other names to throw in are the Goo Goo dolls, Hoobastank and of course Nickelback......</p>

<p>This thread irks me, I love music probably more than sport to be honest but when people have lots of links on these threads it takes ages to load so hence I don't usually bother. Also people put things up that may or may not be good but there's such a huge chance they get ignored because of said issues.</p>

<p>Does it need to be separated into genres or is that in the too hard basket ?</p> -

Not that I disagree about Counting crows and Hootie but I've always thought the Chillis and Rage were rubbish, I listened to Gnrs first two albums a couple of weeks ago and there a lot of filler on there . Hoobastank and Nickleback would 00s wouldn't they?</p>

<p>Appetite for Destruction was the best selling debut of all time so obviously had some merits, I still bust it out for a hoon every now and again, Mr Brownstone probably the most underappreciated track on there, awesome listening.</p> -

Funny you should say that. In the mid 90s there was a Led Zep tribute album called "Encomium" that included a version of "hey, hey what can I do" by, yes, Hootie and the Blowfish. Dross.<br><br>
Dread Zeppelin's first album had some interesting versions of Led Zep songs, done in reggae style. Their later albums took the joke too far though, don't bother with them. -

<p>It'll probably come as no surprised to anybody that I regularly listen to the entire GnR original back catalogue and think with probably the exception of My World, all of it is completely fucking awesome.</p>

<p>Lies is split between old-school rock with Axl's voice probably at it's peak, and some acoustic brilliance. Appetite is THE definitive rock album of it's era, and the UYI double album is purely about Slash for me.</p>

I didn't listen to much Dread Zeppelin but I can't see a joke band being able to carry the joke for more than one or two albums . Have you ever heard of Hayseed Dixie?
