Players of a known quantity are underperforming, new players don't cut the mustard. That's on the coach.Or the players just aren't there? The player pool at 9 isn't exactly overflowing and that's not down to Foster
Also, even if that doesn't solve everything, what other option is there?
Taking a cold, hard look before rushing wholesale changes in one part of the orgnisation?
Foster is the inbred grandson of a once great King. Only there because of what his ancestors did, and even his father wasn't all that great.
I'm just not convinced changing a few people in the coaching team is a magic solution. The problems are deeper than that.
-
@steven-harris agree we are miles behind the world in this aspect.
-
@stargazer I'm not calling any other individual anything, everyone can react as they see fit as long as they don't hurt anyone else. But I can understand why many fans of All Black Rugby have certain expectations and are pissed off after witnessing that.

My biggest disappointment is the lack of development of the props
This has been a problem for a number of years now. Compared to the Wallaby props, for example, the AB props offer little as ball-carriers. I don't think the likes of Laulala and Karl T will be viable options in 2023 so the coaches need to start to develop some younger props now, particularly TH props. Some of those players are still untested at SR level.
-
@act-crusader narp. I’m drunk and sticking with my opinion….
Not really. I get what you’re saying and agree to an extent. But I don’t think either is actually suited to the role. Especially not against this type of opposition. I don’t think it’s about building combos or sticking with them to see what we get. I think is the case of these two they do not and will not give us what we need. Plenty of players have gone that way. You choose Snake as an example which is fair but to me both players are mediocre centre options.
It highlights the midfield problem we have and it’s not one easily solved. Who else was there?

@dan54 the Irish weee fantastic. But this is a full blown bitch session now. There’s no time for measured opinions or congratulatory posts to the opposition. This is a virtual lynching. Make All Black Rugby Great Again…
you can just say ABs for rugby so you get your MAGA...

With Jordie’s huge boot we should have prioritised playing in their half rather than clever up and unders in our half.
The real elephant in the room was why didn't the players recognise that and change tactics?
ALB took the backline brain when he went off.
Yep. Experience and calm heads in mid-field looks really thin

I reckon the ALB / Goodhue midfield would’ve been the first choice one going into the year. Two players that could complement each other and offer something different.

@stargazer i think you have to make horses for courses selections ,for me Blackadder is better suited against teams like the Boks..Akira may have been a better option against the irish
My biggest disappointment is the lack of development of the props ..Nepo Laulala whilst being adequate at scrumtime time just does ‘nt do it for me around the paddock ..big Karl T i put in the same bracket
Ofa Tu’angafasi has been a massive let down ,has fallen by the wayside ..Time to invest in the new breed of props. De Groot for a start. Not start them necessarily. But bring them off the bench and give them experience. Samisoni needs to be on the bench from now to bring power in the tight, with Coles starting. I think Flynn needs a break. I'd also think Vai'i should partner with Whitelock next test, with Retallick coming off the bench.

Ireland's 7th win in a row who have obviously got a good thing growing. Everyone in their squad seems to know their role and gives everything for the Jersey. You have that and you are always going to be very tough to beat.
Sadly I think we might see more of the same against France next week.
-
Lots of good comments on how our props aren't up to standard, the cupboard is bare at No.9, apart from RM & BB there's little depth at 10 and there's a lack of experience at 12/13.
It there anyone at the NZRFU looking forward?

We'll probably hammer them and give the crack paper-overs a spot of overtime.

Well, we've had 6 years to come up with a plan which allows for injured players...
