Anyone know anything about the Maori setting up their own blockade at Te Hana?
Can't see anything online but have had calls from workers saying that they can't get through. No problem with the police (they all have exemptions), but this was something else.
I did see this earlier today:

@snowy yeah dont think it was a blockade, was a 'Hikoi' wanting to get through, unsure where they were going.
@Tim feral fluffybunnies
They had cars across the road apparently and wouldn't let anyone past - so I'm going with blockade.
-
@taniwharugby Gotcha. No they were never getting through.
I just had a an amusing self reflection - I agree with them re lockdowns, but I am not going to block state highways. Things are shit enough already.

Biting is pretty poor form. If it was a dog that did that it would risk getting put down

@mn5 why trouble making. Was there reports of misbehaving
Loads of intimidation, abusing people wearing masks, bikes revving…..not to mention the whole thing was an affront to people actually trying to do the right thing.
Are you double jabbed @winger?

@winger said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
@mn5 At Wellington. Or Auckland. Wellington I heard was peaceful. A friendly atmosphere and a good sized crowd. And my understanding is it wasn't anti vac but pro freedom.
Sounds like our sources have different views on things

Yeah, different perception based on where you sit I guess.
So the yelling into Police faces. The outright abuse of journalists doing their job etc didn't happen or just not near you? And wtf does that ex US President have to do with anything?
Looked likeferals from both ends of the spectrum to me.Some people need to relearn what freedom actually means or go live in the bush.

@crucial Pro-Freedom and threatening to shut down a city dont sound exactly complementary to me. I imagine there are some people genuinely concerned about the impingement of their democratic freedoms but from what little I saw it seemed more like a grand coalition of the feral.
Just from reading the signs on display

Yep I’m picturing the conversation with the ex wife right now…..
“Sorry, some feral fucks have blocked the motorway, I can’t come and get the boys today…..”

99% would have been fine. Just concerned about the direction this country is going (as I am but I wasn't there. I was told about a brief report from someone who was). But the media reporting would focus on the 1% of course.
Are you even a little concerned about where we are heading in NZ. I am and I'm in the vunerable older age group

Given the recent 'freedom' protests, today's relaxation of restrictions in Auckland and the very real lockdown fatigue felt - in Auckland at least - I think this graph is interesting. NZ really has had it reasonably easy overall and countries like UK for all the talk of Freedom Day - it's relative. Still quite locked down it seems and nowhere near as open as NZ L1 (remember that ?)
