@mn5 really living up to the stereotypes of your lineage huh.
If it was free you would go to see a band that you have repeatedly rubbished
I thought we'd had a debate about the Brown Sugar thing on another thread. Yeah the lyrics are far from woke - rape, slavery etc but far out - it's rock and roll FFS and only the truly deluded could imagine the Stones were ever advocating such behaviour or that any sane person would feel the need to replicate it.
Fuck people are moronic.
Now where's that Mars bar?
Theyâre ok, theyâre not terrible but in true fern fashion if you donât worship something youâre ârubbishingâ them instead apparently.
On the subject though, itâs about time someone cancelled âDelilahâ by Tom Jones. Check out the lyrics of that song !!!
And thatâs just for starters
Hundreds if not thousands of songs wonât pass the âBrown Sugarâ test

Saw Dave Chappelle's new special last night! Brilliant!

Missed the other thread, so donât know if it was mentioned, but Bob Dylan covers Brown Sugar live. He sacrifices one of his own to play it, and if itâs okay with Bob then Jagger should tell everybody else to shove it. But maybe the woke peer pressure and the knighthood title of âSirâ in front of his name has completely emasculated him.

@kid-chocolate according to Craig Ferguson Keith is the real driver behind the band, if so, perhaps he is the woke one. Or maybe he is just trying to get it accepted again:

Bob Dylan singing the Rolling StonesâŚâŚ
Thatâs up there with Ed Sheeran.

@mn5 I forgive Ed Sheeran after his cameo in "Yesterday" and the "have you seen any ginger" in the kitchen scene.. but you can't use Bob Dylan and Ed in the same sentence. They don't even exist in the same universe.
Bob Dylan and Ed Sheeran on rotate is what Iâd imagine the soundtrack to hell would be.

If my recollection of Jewish mysticism and the afterlife is correct, Bob is probably only playing there for 12 months..

Let's rewrite more stuff to suit our view of the world. Funny stuff.
- Jon Kent, the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, will be revealed as bisexual in an upcoming issue of 'Superman: Son of Kal-El.'
- The phrase "The AmericaN Way" will be taken out of Superman's slogan.

so, the Rolling Stones will no longer play "Brown Sugar" live.
we've effectively reached a point where we are so fucking dumb, that unless a piece of art says explicitly "this bad thing is bad" or "this other thing is actually good" in very basic words, then it is instantly assumed to be glorifying/denigrating said thing.
Dave Chappelle and Netflix are currently working their way through this (actually Netflix are, Dave doesn't give a fuck) because, again, he did not use small, simple enough words.
Can I just point out a difference in that it was Jagger himself that doesn't feel comfortable with the lyrics these days. He is quoted as saying that he'd never write anything so 'raw' these days (and I have seen similar comments from other artists on things in their back catalogue)
Just saying that he is allowed to stop singing his own song if he doesn't like it. No one else asked them to. In fact others have criticised it for a long time to no reaction.
I doubt very much that Jagger would give two shits about other people's opinions on the subject if he wanted to continue playing it.
Anti-PC jumping at shadows perhaps? -
@crucial that quote is from 1995. They played last played it in the US in 2019
Keith Richards wants to play it
"Richards added: âI donât want to get into conflict with all of this s**t ... but Iâm hoping that weâll be able to resurrect the babe in her glory somewhere along the track.â
So yeah, whatever mate

I didn't say Jagger's quote was recent, just that it's what he thinks.
So who has forced them to stop playing it? -
@crucial Nah In the same article that @mariner4life quotes Keef from Jagger says they've played it every night since 1970 and they might put it back in.
Slavery, Rape, Whipping, Cunnilingus, Heroin. What's got the snowflakes so agitated? Sounds like a lot of the 70's to me - well not the slavery but the rest for sure.

Yep. "Jagger added: âWeâve played âBrown Sugarâ every night since 1970, so sometimes you think, âWeâll take that one out for now and see how it goes.â We might put it back in. "
So as far as I can tell no one has told them to take it out or influenced them for PC reasons.

The article I had linked to earlier, provided some evidence Richards did feel pressure, via the original article it linked to
You picked up on that, huh?â Richards said when asked why theyâre not playing the tune. âI donât know. Iâm trying to figure out with the sisters quite where the beef is. Didnât they understand this was a song about the horrors of slavery? But theyâre trying to bury it. At the moment I donât want to get into conflicts with all of this sâ.â He laughed in his signature raspy fashion. âBut Iâm hoping that weâll be able to resurrect the babe in her glory somewhere along the track.â
I don't know who the "sisters" are though..

Pretty poor that his other documentary is being pulled. I hope the Netflix CEO sticks to his guns, although Iâll not be surprised if he caves into the extremists
