NBA 2015/16 thread

I missed this discussion re today's game.... I was to busy pushing refresh on ESPN....

Great win by OKC... Adams is easily the 3rd best player on OKC at the moment.. with Waiters 4th... and Kanter 5th... Ibaka has fallen down. He is due a big one though.

I was refusing to buy into the narrative about OKC's 4th quarter woes.. but subconsciously I must have bought in as I am still in 'panic' mode every 4th quarter.
-

I used to be into basket ball massively when the Bulls were good.Kind of took over as my favourite sport for a few years.

I got a flashback to that feeling watching this match. Awesome to see a Kiwi not just making up numbers and that final play by Westbrook was something else.

Spurs should have received that slightly earlier foul but that's sport.

KNickerbockers are kicd of the team I support nowadays but OKC might trump them
-

I only really got into BB when Adams got drafted and hence support and follow OKC quite avidly. Really into it now. I think I support Adams over OKC. If he moved I would likely support 2 teams.
-

I would forget where OKC are situated if Adams moved. It's fair to say that I am rather fairweather. Now, if Adams moved to the Knicks, I would be stoked
-

I'm a bit like that with Andrew Bogut. It has led me to (very conveniently) support the Warriors for the last four or so years, where I have managed to ride a pretty awesome wave!

That is a hell of a sports "One night stand"
-

I know a few Aussie guys who are like that but with the Cavs and Deli. It was ugly early on but now they are riding sky high with Lebron and co.

On that final play, Westbrook was fouled by Leonard no doubt, but LA was far to late on the help and should've come out sooner to force a tougher shot or for Westbrook to make a pass.

Other than the blowout in game one this has been a fantastic series.
-

So you weren't a Bucks fan?

I started watching the NBA in the 1980s at the height of the Lakers-Celtics rivalry. I was a big Lakers fan (James Worthy was my favourite player) and my best friend supported the Celtics. Basketball was more team-oriented in that era whereas nowadays there is too much iso ball. Better athletes don't necessarily make for a better spectacle.

The Lakers now are woeful so I tend to support players rather than teams. I've always admired the Spurs and hope OKC does well.
-

I was, but I followed them a little more distantly than I do the Warriors. For whatever reason I got into the NBA in about 2013 and have tried to watch as much as I can since.
-

I assume that the answer is no, but is there no 'advantage' played in BB?

I know there is all the drama and tactic of deliberate fouls but it seems a bit odd in a sport for deliberate fouling to be encouraged to me.
-

There is continuation on a shot after being fouled so if the shot is successful you get 2 or 3 pts plus a free throw. But it's a subjective call by the refs.

Hack a Shaq was a good example.
-
Anyone else finding themselves only watching Adams? When he is on the court I can't take my eyes off the big fella.
-

OKC maintaining the scoring pace. Crowd is on fire too. Adams with the put back.

Billy D sticking with his starters.
-

OKC in control of game 6 leading 55-31 at HT. 31 pts is the fewest the Spurs have scored in the 1st half all season.

Duncan looks like he's forgotten how to shoot a basketball
-

Another big offensive rebound by Adams that results in a KD dunk.

Spurs made a run, but now OKC are in control after the huge 3 by Westbrook.
-

Well done OKC. almost all commentators had the Spurs winning before the series started. Then after the game 1 blowout they all jumped on the Spurs. They closed out well and got a couple of gritty close wins. Great to have that going into a Conference finals.

I like the matchups in this series, Westbrook v Klay, KD v Barnes/Iggy and our very own Bledisloe, Adams v Bogut
