Steve Adams has started strong in game 5, Duncan suddenly looking old and dejected
-
Adams set 3 screens on one play to free KD. Just a monster off the ball. Some tidy stuff around the hoop too. Im not setting a very high standard at work....watching bball on my phone in the office....

Couple of minutes to play, SAS with 1 point lead. Adams with another double double.

-

WOW! I just turned this on with 2 mins to play! This is VERY distracting!!!!

-

Big play from Westbrook!

-

Fuck last minutes can go on forever. I need to get ready for work!

Thunder grab the win. Yay.

Jumped on them at $4 at the start of the 4th, they were only down by 3
-

I missed this discussion re today's game.... I was to busy pushing refresh on ESPN....

Great win by OKC... Adams is easily the 3rd best player on OKC at the moment.. with Waiters 4th... and Kanter 5th... Ibaka has fallen down. He is due a big one though.

I was refusing to buy into the narrative about OKC's 4th quarter woes.. but subconsciously I must have bought in as I am still in 'panic' mode every 4th quarter.
-

I used to be into basket ball massively when the Bulls were good.Kind of took over as my favourite sport for a few years.

I got a flashback to that feeling watching this match. Awesome to see a Kiwi not just making up numbers and that final play by Westbrook was something else.

Spurs should have received that slightly earlier foul but that's sport.

KNickerbockers are kicd of the team I support nowadays but OKC might trump them
-

I only really got into BB when Adams got drafted and hence support and follow OKC quite avidly. Really into it now. I think I support Adams over OKC. If he moved I would likely support 2 teams.
-

I would forget where OKC are situated if Adams moved. It's fair to say that I am rather fairweather. Now, if Adams moved to the Knicks, I would be stoked
-

I'm a bit like that with Andrew Bogut. It has led me to (very conveniently) support the Warriors for the last four or so years, where I have managed to ride a pretty awesome wave!

I know a few Aussie guys who are like that but with the Cavs and Deli. It was ugly early on but now they are riding sky high with Lebron and co.

On that final play, Westbrook was fouled by Leonard no doubt, but LA was far to late on the help and should've come out sooner to force a tougher shot or for Westbrook to make a pass.

Other than the blowout in game one this has been a fantastic series.
-

So you weren't a Bucks fan?

I started watching the NBA in the 1980s at the height of the Lakers-Celtics rivalry. I was a big Lakers fan (James Worthy was my favourite player) and my best friend supported the Celtics. Basketball was more team-oriented in that era whereas nowadays there is too much iso ball. Better athletes don't necessarily make for a better spectacle.

The Lakers now are woeful so I tend to support players rather than teams. I've always admired the Spurs and hope OKC does well.
-

I was, but I followed them a little more distantly than I do the Warriors. For whatever reason I got into the NBA in about 2013 and have tried to watch as much as I can since.
-

I assume that the answer is no, but is there no 'advantage' played in BB?

I know there is all the drama and tactic of deliberate fouls but it seems a bit odd in a sport for deliberate fouling to be encouraged to me.
-

There is continuation on a shot after being fouled so if the shot is successful you get 2 or 3 pts plus a free throw. But it's a subjective call by the refs.

Hack a Shaq was a good example.
-

OKC in control of game 6 leading 55-31 at HT. 31 pts is the fewest the Spurs have scored in the 1st half all season.

-

That was a 30-12 quarter. OKC turning it on.

-
Anyone else finding themselves only watching Adams? When he is on the court I can't take my eyes off the big fella.
-

OKC maintaining the scoring pace. Crowd is on fire too. Adams with the put back.

Billy D sticking with his starters.
-

Duncan looks like he's forgotten how to shoot a basketball
-

Another big offensive rebound by Adams that results in a KD dunk.

Spurs made a run, but now OKC are in control after the huge 3 by Westbrook.
-
Okc baby!!

The Spurs went down with a fight. I hope that wasn't Tim Duncan's last game.

The West final will be fun. Go OKC!!
-

Well done OKC. almost all commentators had the Spurs winning before the series started. Then after the game 1 blowout they all jumped on the Spurs. They closed out well and got a couple of gritty close wins. Great to have that going into a Conference finals.

I like the matchups in this series, Westbrook v Klay, KD v Barnes/Iggy and our very own Bledisloe, Adams v Bogut
-
Echoing on from BSG. Adams is now the 3rd best player on the roster. Averaged a dubdub in what was supposed to be a series they would lose. Best story of the last 3 years for me. His rise and rise has been awesome to watch. He's going to max out his next contract for sure if his numbers stay like this.

A Pop press conference is comedy gold. :)

Get the feeling it's the end of an era for Spurs. Duncan will surely retire, and Manu too. Parker might stick around but the jury is still out if he's got what it takes to be a starting PG on a championship team.

The talk of chasing Kevin Durant will only get louder I reckon, but what they really need IMO is a Curry-esque point guard who can threaten from beyond the arc and support Leonard. Sadly there aren't too many of them floating around the league, and even less of them entering free agency this off-season.

That said they are definitely not going away, with two bonafide all-stars in their starting five and a few very handy operators on the bench.
-

I doubt SA will get Durant, Durants current team just beat them, I think they will go after Conley and Whiteside.. and even possibly Howard.

-

I'd be amazed if they signed Howard, given they are such a culture-oriented side. Conley seems to be the word, and he would be a good fit IMO.

Durant has been linked to pretty much every team, but the deeper OKC go the greater the chance is he stays there. But if they get dusted by GSW then the talk will continue, and it seems Durant is more likely to chase rings than cash so a switch to Spurs is a possibility, albeit a distant one.
-

Yeah Spurs have a no dickhead policy Im sure. Last one was Dennis Rodman and haven't had one since

Agreed. The Lakers and Wizards (he's a DC boy) have been mentioned regularly but neither are in the hunt for a title. I'm not sure the Spurs make sense either as Durant is a 3 and Leonard has that spot. Ginóbili might be the most likely to retire out of the 3 veterans, as I think Duncan will play for another season.
-

I feel like a fraud posting about the current game but who cares.

Game one at Golden State where ever that may be his kicked off and Adams already has three defensive rebounds

9-8 to Steve Curry and the Golden Staters early in the first
-

This is going to be a short series for OKC if they don't look after the ball (10 TOs) and can't make their outside shots.

GSW lead 60-47 at HT.
-

That's a tidy comeback win by OKC, considering they were away and 13 down at the half.

OKC have been fantastic in their last few games in the 3rd and especially 4th quarter!
