The latter. He debuted against in the 2005 Lions series and scored. 23

I think he played a couple of earlier games vs Tonga and Samoa but not sure if they were test status at the time.

Same test debut as Sam Whitelock in 2010. He went on the NH tour in 2008 and played in that Munster game. His next match was his test debut.

I thought he debuted in the third Lions test 2005, Carter injured after his magical second test? All McAlister's points of the boot, I remember a bloody good (DC-like) offload by him but not a try?

For what itās worth thereās only 5 of the 40 where they didnāt score a try.
