    Has Tei Walden signed with anyone for next year? I think I saw something about the Highlanders being interested.

    @kiwimurph said in NPC - news, injuries etc:

    Just watching Taranaki and thinking they look odds on to win the Championship.

    You have to wonder what the hell is going to happen with promotion relegation if the 3 Auckland teams don't play?

    Either they don't do promotion relegation this season or they might just have to relegate Auckland.

    Or relegate the 6th best first division team? That would be harsh too.

    I would guess there’s no promotion/relegation.

    A five team second division without Harbour and Counties is really weak too.. they’ll be playing to find the only team that doesn’t make the semis? Maybe they just have a final? Either way that competition doesn’t demand promotion

    @duluth yea when we were looking at resuming sans Auckland, NH and Counties, I thought they shoulda just carried on from the R3 draw and ditch promo/relegation all together and just let the 3 teams rejoin when they could.

    @tim I had it from a good source that the Chiefs told him they'd be keen on him once he's back from injury.

    I am sure NZR will push again for an exemption to move the players out of Auckland. If that is denied, then yep.

    The Bunnings Warehouse NPC will continue for the next three weeks without Auckland-based teams as New Zealand Rugby (NZR) considers options for re-integrating Auckland, North Harbour and Counties Manukau into the competition.
    Confirmation of a truncated schedule for weeks four, five and six follows the Government’s announcement that the Auckland region will drop down to COVID-19 Alert Level 3 for two weeks from 11.59PM today, meaning teams within that region are still unable to train or play.

    The government shot down NZR’s bid to relocate the Auckland teams once the city moved to level 3, despite last week allowing four Silver Ferns to fly from Auckland to Christchurch at alert level 4 for their three-match series against England.

    @bovidae dunno why they only have 4 games in those weeks...leave 1 team on a bye...the table at the end is the table, don't worry about promo/relegation in this disrupted season.

    Just let the teams play footy!

    @taniwharugby

    Week 6 of the new draw was meant to be the final round of the original draw so the next round will either start from the week 3 games or NZR has to make an entirely new schedule. I'm disappointed that Waikato isn't getting any day games so far (3 Friday night games since the NPC resumed).

    So the final votes are in for Waikato's team of the century. This team was voted by fans, and there is a degree of recency bias in some selections. I didn't vote myself but this wouldn't be the team I would have selected (5 changes for me).
