I fucking love riding around NZ, and seeing the yellow "Squash Court" road signs in the tiniest, of fucking tiny, rural towns. But try to get a court in Wellington... fuck off.
It's bizarre... Pongaroa has one. Reporoa, too.. but that's not enough, I'm pretty sure there's one out near Murupara. And I don't think it's even in Murupara itself, but out in the middle of even-more-nowhere.
I've always wanted to get somebody else with a bike, and who enjoys squash - and go on a tour of NZ's ridiculously located squash courts. -
Looking good going into a Commonwealth year
-
Fuck me - they've got one at Arthurs Pass!
Right!?
And yeah - that map is just the "unaffiliated courts".
Just looking at central north island... I'm gonna go out on a limb, and suggest that the population of Whakamaru and Mangakino combined - probably don't need a squash club.
Reporoa - doesn't really need a squash club, but it certainly doesn't need one just up the road at Waikite Valley also. What I really want - is to con somebody into paying me for doing this.
Make a TV programme - based on visiting tiny NZ towns/names-on-a-map, meeting the locals, etc.- Would make it a shit-ton easier to organise actually getting into the courts, which are probably typically a "key is behind the bar at the local" type places
- I get paid for riding a motorbike around all the roads in NZ where you wouldn't otherwise find an excuse to check out
- get paid for playing some pretty fucking average squash (I don't really know the rules well, we've made up our own rules where it's pretty much a full-contact sport)
- show-case tiny towns, quirky locals, beautiful remote parts of the country
Effectively - yes - just another travel show, with a super-flimsy gimmick premise.

With the biggest joke being you don't actually know how to play squash ??

Yeah - there'd have to be some really good editing to supply even the obligatory 20 seconds of actual squash footage for each episode.
Could include some of the shit-talking we typically do during a game though... that'd provide a bit of entertaining filler. -

I think it should be an all in one, a combo of that Ewen McGregor travel show and a review show.
He could also do a weekly read of the Grumpy Old Man thread as a bonus section.
Lets Kickstarter this bitch.
