Yeah, didn't think we would win this one, but were right in it to the end, perhaps a different kicker today changes the outcome, don't know. Very typical warriors performance, some outstanding efforts mixed some park footy errors.

Still some positives to look for next year... sigh

Sucks to lose that one. We scored more tries, but only kicked one conversion.

Our ability under the high ball really cost us. Our kick defusal % was only 46%.

yeah, we can only hope, I am guess there will be some people that will hang on to that. I am more of a believer that you just need to find a way (with luck) to keep as much of your squad as fit as possible and you will be in the hunt. Everyone will have injuries, but the amount we have had over the last two years has been insane. Some of these could/should be preventable. If you can keep the bulk of your squad together you will be near the pointy end. I think the main squad if all fit is good enough to beat most teams on their day, doesnt mean they will though, but it helps.

Then hope others have more injuries than you 🙂

The longer we go without a title, the sweeter it'll be when it comes.

I was disappointed Nikorima wasn’t picked for this game. Townsend picked I presume because of his kicking? But Kodi offers a much better running game. To me a negative choice.

Whatever, they have loaded a lot onto Walsh who still struggles on defence but provides so much on attack.

Nikorima's wife was having a baby.

By the time the Warriors win a title, we will be able to bus to the final with a pensioners rate, and use our walking frames to get to our seats...

More likely we will win when the team is bought and relocated to Sydney.....

I was thinking the same theme, Central Coast Warriors more likely. They're making good strides with the playing roster already ....

for a couple of teams i barely care about, last night's game between the Titans and the Knights was actually really good fun. Not a high scorer, but really open. Knights win with a very late field goal to Mitch Pearce.

Interesting though given the Titans had everything to play for..

On a side note, I dont think Holbrook nor Payten have used their two big units as nearly as effectively as they could have through the season. Holbrook at least had Fifita going early in the season, but seems lost how to play him now. Payten though has really not worked out at all how to best use Taumalolo the whole season. Both destroy teams singlehandedly when used effectively.

I've been thinking about this. There are a lot of coaches getting called shit at the moment, but

I have sympathy for Payton and Holbrook. They need to find a balance to using their two big units in a game that has got fast and faster. The established thinking is to use them through the middle, but those guys are going to gas, so you need to use them sparingly. So they cop shit for not having them on the field enough. So maybe the edge where they can hit weak shoulders (like Fifita did last night twice) but then they cop shit for not giving them enough ball.

The game has changed enormously in the last 14 months with the 6-agains. Big forwards are way less use to you than rockstar backs through the middle, or a gun hooker. Melbourne are awesome because they have Grant/Cheese, Munster, Pap, Hynes, and Hughes. Penrith live and die off their two halves. Manly are the starkest illustration of this. The Roosters survive despite the injuries because they still have their gun fullback. Speed is key now, so if you have lots of cap tied up in power forwards its really hard to find the right spot for them.

I dont disagree about how the game has changed, but I still see evidence of power forwards being used well. I suspect if either played for Belly-ache (both would probably be a couple of kegs lighter), but both as damaging both playing 60 minutes minimum. These guys on their own tie up 3-4 defenders leaving space for the speedsters elsewhere. The difference for me with those good teams is Turbo, Hynes, Paps, Teddy all know how and when to be running off shoulders or going into dummy half themselves fater those units create space. Speaking of dummy halves the two best happen to also be at Melbourne and also create chaos off the quick play the ball. Likewise panthers use their halves to distribute and run quickly where the defenders have been removed.

So while I acknowledge the game has changed, I dont think these coaches have got have necessarily got the players that play around those big units (nor the units themselves) playing as they should for a modern game.

so there are only 2 good coaches in the whole NRL? Because every other team is a mile behind Melbourne and Penrith. Okay 3, Robinson is a good coach too.
