McGowan also didn’t think there was much hope that other Rugby Championship games involving Argentina and the Springboks would be held in Perth, which has been mooted as a possibility. “I think it would be unlikely, it’s not our No 1 priority.’’

Is Qld the only other option in Australia?

I'd rather the games against the Boks not be played than having them in a neutral venue. The 100th test match should be a big occasion.

Played in front of at least a home crowd.

Just do what we did: can the season. Have a break. Play NPC. Whatever

As I suspected unlikely to play any RC in WA.It could be canned.
QLD is community covid free, probably best chance to play is here.
But the NRL is being run out of QLD maybe tough to find Grounds etc.

At least the Wallabies can look back and say they didn't get swept...

Tasmania? I’d fly back for that!

Can you imagine what the logistic managers for SA and Arg are going through at the moment. They need to find hotels and flights for 50-odd people, training venues and local travel arrangements, all cased on a number of different possible scenarios.

All Blacks dealt another blow as Australia suspends quarantine free travel

Australia has suspended quarantine free travel from New Zealand until at least next Monday.

Any person flying from New Zealand to Australia will need to undergo 14 days in hotel quarantine. The pause is set to be reviewed in the next 24 hours.

That comes after Perth - the All Blacks' destination for the third Bledisloe Cup test next week - paused their arrangement with New Zealand yesterday.

The Western Australian government on Wednesday announced travellers from New Zealand would be required to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The decision to try to play games in multiple countries was stupid as hell, as the arrangement was very fragile. Just settle on one place and play everything there as a tournament.

I can understand it - the $$$ are too much to not try; what is important is the fallback position when it goes pear shaped.

@nzzp And now no dollars. Perhaps the basline dollars were too much to risk? Very dumb management. Any change would have to involve another two weeks in quarantine, so any fall back position was going to be fucked anyway.

smart risk management would have been to head out to WA as soon as Auckland got played. Not ideal for players, but best for the championship. I mean, how else do you mitigate the (small) risk of a sudden 2 week quarantine being required?

Maybe there is some quid pro quo from SANZAAR to come as the SA/NZ game clashes with a possible AFL Grand Final.

Easy to say in hindsight. But we'd been clean for months

No guarantee that SA and Arg make to WA either, which is independent of what is happening in NZ.

We had - but Delta was floating about. Risk registers will ahve this - but it's probably a risk that gets tolerated. Whether that's a smart idea or not is another question- but it was a risk you could mitigate by travelling early.

It isn't easy, but should have been on the radar

How could this be quid pro quo?
