@canefan fuck, was hoping they'd stop her and send them away...so irresponsible, she did it last time when Auckland went to L3 too...her and her husband have jobs that will not be affected by lockdowns
We get on with them, but that pisses me off
-
@donsteppa ah good point....stink
-
we are supposed to have our bi-annual conference in a fortnight form Sunday in Rotorua, that will be a hit for Rotorua if we cant go, >200 people, accomodation, food, drinks, flights, other activities for 3 days and nights...

@canefan I would but I'm out of beer and gin!
Fortunately there's still 30 dozen bottles of wine so I'm OK for the first six months
I love that you have 360 bottles of wine. Enough for nearly three months lockdown??

@majorrage guess we will find out...
Saw this on social media
So are the nurses still on strike on thursday?? Well played government well played.
Nurses and midwives have withdrawn their strike notices.

Will be fun seeing how this pans out. If it spreads like wildfire after all nz’s border controls… Smug as a bug in a rug. Until the rug catches fire.

@billy-tell yea fun as watching nz in lockdown...what a dumb comment

@canefan one being a nurse, wonder if she was fully vaccinated
Problem is, potentially infected people already fled Auckland now too.
problem - but provided everyone follows L4 and gets tested, not crazy. That's the trick this time- finding this and stamping out really quickly.
And most importantly figuring out how it crossed the border. We dodged a lot of bullets recently, this is the latest. Get our vaccination programme going 3 months earlier, and the conseuqence piece is fundamentally changed for the better. We were so close!

Hopefully those people will get tested. In the past this has happened. I can see the nationwide lockdown being extended to a week

Not as fun as not getting home for my dads 70th. Or my cousins funeral. FFS as a kiwi citizen I’m cut off from my own country. I’m fully vaccinated but to come home, to my country, I’d have to go on a waiting list, to spend 2 weeks in a hotel. And not sure I can bring the wife, coz she’s not a nz citizen. How long does is this expected to go on for? So yeah I would find it ironic that after shutting nz off to its citizens the virus ends up taking hold anyway.
-
@billy-tell bet it wont be fun then if someone you know gets sick from this outbreak, or worse...that isnt a nice place to be for you and I'm sorry to hear, so you should probably have worded things better.
as I said, saying it would be fun to watch is pretty dumb, watching with interest would have been a more normal comment.
This virus has far reaching consequences, I know someone in the UK who died from it, I know someone who died form not being able to get medical treatment due to covid in the UK.

That is a terrible predicament for you mate, and I hope it improves soon. But you know this makes your chances even more remote don't you? I wouldn't wish this shit on anyone

Do you not read the news mate? They laid out the plan for next year a few days ago.
If people like you had your way, then there'd be plenty of people whose dad's 70th would be dad's funeral instead. -

I'm not surprised people are reacting negatively when many of the responses from those in charge has been border line smug. Nothing worng with expecting better.

If people like you had your way, then there'd be plenty of people whose dad's 70th would be dad's funeral instead. Those plans change all the time. Did you see a nationwide lockdown coming 2 days ago? I’m all for protecting the country but I’m also for science. If I’m vaccinated and I have a negative PCR test on arrival, then surely 48 hours is enough of a quarantine. If you’re emigrating back to NZ 2 weeks is nothing. But if you want to visit, then 2 weeks is a long time.
