Ludicrous.
apparently it's meant to be touch, and KO is automatic DQ. So ... soudns technically correct according to the experts on Reddit
Pretty hard in a fast full contact sport
Lucky it wasn’t like that in prize fighting back in the day or else Rocky Marcianos record would have read 6-43 instead of 49-0.
it's not a full contact sport in this form, though. It's a skill competition/demonstration as far as I know.
But at that speed it must be difficult to keep control of your force.
I'm not defending them here, just sharing what I understand. It seems to be in the rules - if you're not pulling your punches/kicks, you're not in control, and you get pinged for it.
Very practical too. Nothing will show a bunch of muggers who’s boss like a pulled punch or chop. They’ll admire the discipline and self control and run for miles.

Me neither. Just saying. I saw a bout in the lighter class where a guy executed the same kick and got the opponent in the mid section. No problem there. This guy ducks into a good kick and wins a medal for his trouble. Sounds like tackle rules in rugby!

Seriously, how do you screw up a baton change at this level?
The higher the level, the faster you're going, so the less room for error.
You see far fewer baton change fuck ups at club/amateur level, simply because they're moving much slower.
It’s their job FFS

This is so fucking stupid - this idea of Japan as a place of ‘dance’ is fucking ridiculous.
Literally a place where dance clubs are outlawed!
When do the Harajuku girls turn up?
Actually, we wanted the rockabilly greaser dancers - fuck, if you are going to rip off ‘alternative’ Tokyo at least do it right!
And those fluffybunnies are socially distanced too.

The us just snuck past China to finish top.
Pretty historically bad performance by their track and field team. Be interesting to see if they bounce back or if the rest of the world are closing in. Maybe covid19 was especially disruptive for their preparations? Didn't seem to hurt the UK though.
