I think that starting 15 is maybe 1 or 2 players away from our best 15, but some of our tactics leave alot to be desired.
Our disipline is getting worse, just dumb shit, not even close to 50/50 calls falling our way, just clear infringing.
Players dont look like they fully trust one another or the systems on defence, we had a great 20 mins where we played a bit straighter and simply, then we emptied the bench and let aus back into the game.
I worry about on-field leadership.
Not bagging Whitelock as he's good, solid and calm, but we seem to be missing the senior players stepping up and taking charge when things aren't going well. Seems to have been missing for a few years.

Postives: Smith still great, Paps awesome, Whitelock a good leader, Havili and AB beginning to gel, Bower better than expected.
And RM
That miss on defence means you can't say he had a good game. That was truely below AB level.
Good goalkicking and a well taken try (and almost set up a pearler) but that was terrible defence.
That is seriously clutching at straws. One miss and his game is below AB level? FFS
Agreed. Codie Taylor getting palmed off right after was worse.
He needs a rest - Conceded two penalties, (equal with BBBR @Chris ) and missed almost as many tackles asa he made (2 missed, 3 made). Ra for all of 3 metres with one pass. We have to get much more out of our front row and his role is crucial.

I said, very clearly, that sort of defence is below AB level.

@victor-meldrew he seems the ideal man when leading the Crusaders....
I think whatever way they are trying to play is putting themselves in poor places causing them to concede.
Given that 20 min period was probably the best under Foster, it makes you wonder if it was the players just playing what was in front of them, given it all fell apart when the subs came on and they probably went out to play whatever plan they had for them

"That miss on defence means you can't say he had a good game. ".......MmmNot controversial, it was awful, as were Taylor and Reece in that movement.

Mounga clearly had a good game.
He kicked well and got a good intercept try. But in the first half he didn’t get us around the field, defended badly and again was hidden on the wing on defence.
Will bite us on the bum one day.
-
@sparky why because we dont play retarded 10 man boxkickathon shit like South Africa and the old enemy?
I think both teams have some great talent coming through and we will go well at the next RWC. Both teams packs to me seem like they can genuinely muscle up but also marry that with a bit of backline play.
Fuck it. Straya will never win at Eden Park but we put some good play together and if not for a loose 20 minutes and uncharacteristic goalkicking would've been right in it.

When we took him off it almost did bite us in the Bum, our attack ceased to exist.
And we let in a shit load of tries. -

Too many subs contributed to that, we started losing scrums and conceding lots of penalties.

That's a really good point. But no problems with Whitelock, more that there seems to be something collectively missing with the senior players.
Pre-2017, when things weren't going to plan, you'd see the likes of Nonu, Whitelock, Conrad etc having little chats with each other and more often than not, there'd be a penalty won or a turnover from a midfield tackle and the momentum would swing back to the AB's,
Perhaps there's a culture issue Foster needs to address or they don't have much confidence in Foster and his gameplan?

And we let in a shit load of tries.Richie is far and away the best option. BB is not close at the moment.
