Pretty sure we wouldn't have had him anyway as he would have been with the ABs.

Great weather. Cool ground. Enjoying this.
-
Holy crap, I know the boundaries for cricket at Pukekura Park are pathetically short but hell look at the miniscule in goal areas here, they would be considered small even by rugby league standards.
-
Not a great start by the Magpies.
-
We are looking somewhat out of sorts but have had practically no ball so hopefully things will change when/if we get our hands on it. Having the wind behind us is not being of any benefit at this stage.
Taranaki 06 - 00 HB after about a dozen minutes -
Five penalties against the Magpies already. This guy is whistling them up as often as he does when refereeing netball. Things get worse as the 'Naki drive over for a try. Hotly disputed by the visiting team and referred to TMO
-
Great work Evans.
-
WTF!
-
Goodness me, that looked a dicey award of the try after not seeing any grounding on the replay.
-
That's the risk a ref runs awarding a try without seeing it. The TMO had no choice really
-
Things get even worse as the 'Naki boot over another penalty (the seventh they have been awarded so far) for three more points.
Taranaki 16 - 00 after about 25 minutes -
Two more minutes have passed asnd we can now make that nine penalties now as the score baloons out to Taranaki 19 - 00 after 27 minutes.

@tj But the ref did. By referring it is a clear indication the he saw the grounding. WHy the need to refer it if he allegedy saw a grounding. PLayers do not usually blow up against refs decisions without good reason.
I think he assumed it was grounded, then the players blew up at him so he thought he'd check... He definitely was not confident he saw it grounded.
-
Pies need to adjust to his ruck reffing and just get numbers there, as the commentators note he awards the penalty even if the players aren't actually going for the ball.
-
What a tackle by Enari.

You've been watching Collingwood too much.
-
The Naki have gotten good Perofeta today.

I don't watch aerial ping ping so don't get the reference outside of Collingwood having the best uniform in the AFL.
-
Maybe THAT'S why McLutchie didn't play Super....
-
A nice rearward penalty kick there by the Magpies as they set up for a lineout drive try. The TAB now have the 'Naki at $1.11 HB 1t $5.25, very tempting odds there! Nothing comes for the drive other than another two penalties and a couple more penalty advantages. The last comes to a try by L McLutchie. The conversion from out wide misses
Taranaki 19 - 05 HB after about 35 minutes -

I think we also know why Enari doesn't get game time for the Crusaders. I think it's 4 passes to space so far. Hopefully we can fix him as the season goes on.
-
McClutchie is in for a try. Finally. Hopefully we'll start playing some decent footy now.
-
50/20 that's even stupider than a 40/20 - we're making league rules dumber.
-
How shit is Enari's passing?
-
Flanders in to close the gap right on halftime.
-
For a whistle happy ref, his judgement of these mauls leaves a lot to be desired.
-
Lineout drives for a try are wonderful things when it your team benefitting. This time is was the thing of joy as D FLanders does the honours and McLutchie suprises us by converting
Taranaki 19 - 12 Hawkes Bay at halftime
Where are you @Stargazer?

The real score.

You are speaking to veterans of Chris Eaton so we are quite experienced in things like that. Thankfully F Fakatava fortunately does not show similar attributes.
-
Looked like a legit try to the Naki there. Magpies started 2nd like the first.
26-12 to the Naki.
-
And now a drive over try that is not in the splendid category
Taranaki 26 - 12 Hawkes Bay after fifty minutes -
I am pretty sure the penalties awarded and the penalty advantages signalled have now exceeded the total of points scored (38) as 'Naki attempt yet another penalty shot at goal. It misses, no change to the score after sixty minutes
-
Magpies player taken out in back play not even looked at. May have been nothing but looked dodgy in real time.
