@crucial Tanner will be disappointed with that. Trapped near the back for most of the race and never got a run until it was too late.
Unless you've got an absolute cannonball finish, you can't afford to hit the final straight 10 metres back.
I never get that. You work for years for this shot then sit back. Have a fucking crack if no one else is going to.
Yeah - it's madness. I bet Tanner's PB will be 5+ seconds faster than he ran in that race.
Nick ran a much smarter race and it looked like a fast heat.
Edit: Tanner's PB is nearly 9 seconds quicker - so he could have been 75 metres further up the track.

Willis might squeeze into next round
didn't show much in the straight. He's either confident of time, or he doesn't have it
Considering he just needed to step it out to ensure he was top six.

Was a season best time, so that may well be it

took a big risk, but it was a quick heat, so i reckon he was comfortable.
the women's javelin is on and my shoulder popped out just watching it.

Didn’t look that comfortable from the end on going by facial expressions.
Mind you the Polish dude gets promoted after falling over. How does that work? Tough shit

Women's 400m WR is held by a, checks notes, East German from 1985. Ridiculous that is still an official record.
-
lol, don't judge books by covers
the very african looking aussie steps up to the mic after her 400m. And you expect her to sound one way...
and she is aussie as fuck! classic
-
the Aussie girl in the javelin looks like she is having a fucking ball. Best part of the Olympics sometimes.

Yeah, she's been here since she was a kid.

Hubbard fails to complete a single lift in the snatch.
Quite possibly the funniest unintended wit I've read in awhile...
Or was it

There was a huge influx of Sudanese migrants about 15-20 years ago. Seeing the influence of that on national teams now. Just look at the Olyroos captain.

There’s a few track and field records from the 70s and 80s from the Eastern Block that are still current today.
Don’t think even Val has come close to breaking the woman’s shot put record despite her dominance.
They all really need to be wiped or at least with an asterisk next to them.. -

Peter Bol in the 800m tomorrow as well.
A lot of them live near me in Blacktown - given the height of some of them, I'm tempted to ask if they'd like to play rugby, but know that basketball is very attractive to a lot of their guys.

Although they do the same at every other sport too so I guess you can't really call it 'moneyball'. Not sure what the rest of the schedule is like but they're holding onto their lead at the top of the leaderboard pretty handily at the moment.
Say what you like about communism, but by god it turns into medals.
Just ask the Germans. East Germany won 35 gold in 1988. Germany currently has 6 I think. They’ve gone from about 12 gold in the pool to 1 bronze.
It did fuck the country doing it. All those resources put to work, but no bread for the people
