    Get the broom out on this NZ Sevens side, most of these players are past it.

    How could that tackled Fijian, with the defender still on him, get up to his knees and pass the ball? (Just before their final try).

    Does 7s have different laws?

    You've got it in your post. Tackler didn't release.

    @canes4life
    That would be true even if we'd won it.

    Congrats to the NZ 7s boys. Silver is a great achievement and whilst disappointed, feeling pretty proud they got to the big dance.

    Congrats to Fiji, the better team deservedly wins gold.

    Still a good result for NZ. I didn't dare to hope for a medal, let alone a silver one.

    All the bad things about NZ came back to haunt them in the final. Webber was shit (no surprise) and Knewstubb missed his tackles. I would have taken a silver medal before the Olympic Games so not too disappointed.

    Laidlaw's team for the final highlighted his lack of ambition. Time for a cleanout now with some young blood.

    This is a shit comment. The team won silver and we should be proud of them
    They just did not deliver in the final.

    Yep, all things considered Silver is a lot further into the tournament than we might have got. And significantly further than the more illustriously coached and selected 2016 side too.

    Two things can be true.

    NZ did very well.

    The team is at the end of an era.

    Indeed. Timmy for one is 34, hardly think we will see him going to the next Olympics at 37.

    He was really good the rest of the tournament, so to see him once again shit the bed under pressure was really disappointing.

    I don’t begrudge Laidlaw going with some of the faithful to the Olympics, but now will provide an opportunity for a refresh.
