I get where you're coming from, but I think it makes perfect sense, in one you're competing for the ball, the other you're playing the player. Obviously on occasion you can be doing the former and it accidentally becomes the latter and you get penalised.

I get it, I do, just other times it’s ok to play the player, it’s called tackling, I can see how it can be confusing for new people
