Felt sorry for the young kid Saka at the end. The keepers are so insanely good at that level though, if they guess right they are odds on to save it.

Rashford though, fuck at least get the shot on target...

Agree with @KiwiMurph the drama is fantastic.

Displacement activity. I'm actually gutted for Southgate and his team. They seem to have something quite special about them.

    The biggest problem with football

Chielini (sp) replay has Rio Ferdinand saying ‘took his yellow, fantastic player’

    Pathetic

Our telecast here in nz , from Bein, had footage of England fans at halftime beating up on Italians in the concourse. It was hard to maintain my enthusiasm for England after that.

Late in the 90 minutes they flashed up a stat that Italy had 79% posession. I was thinking to myself how on earth can the 2 top teams have such a gulf, England leaving their fate to the other team. But then I remembered how it is watching a crap passive set up for counter attacking all black team and I could empathize. England brought it back a bit in extra time, though.

Neesh should focus less on comedy and more on getting back in the Black Caps test team.

    We don’t need him…

First time watching football since the 2014 FIFA World Cup final. Pretty decent game, second half was exciting and the shootout was crazy intense. Glad the poms lost after claiming it was "coming home" since they made the qualifiers.

Indeed, shit like that plus the behaviour of their fans makes virtually any neutral want them to lose.

Why? There is strength in having not every player multi format.

Well, I'm not a huge follower, but like Southgate. A lot of football managers come across like Clive Woodward. He come across as a decent bloke like Ian McGeechan or Heineke Meyer

Yeah it was a bit tongue and cheek although if I’m honest it does frustrate me as I think he could have been a brilliant test all rounder. Then again I thought the same of Guptill based on some of his bigger test innings…..

Sorry to any Italian posters for the thread hijack.

As an Arsenal fan I feel for Saka but I don't think a 19 year old rookie should have been put in the situation of taking the 5th penalty. Southgate's post-game hug and chat was classy though.

That said, I was supporting Italy.
