@mn5 Yeah - thought you'd remember the incident.

Dick's name is ingrained in my memory - along with Ian Robinson of Zimbabwe!

Gillespie giving Cairns to Parore down leg.

And was he Waugh to Parore off Vettori as well?

If we were to start a thread on shameful umpiring decisions it would rival Test Ignore and probably break the Internet.

I remember in the 80's Wisden did some analysis of LBW's and NZ was the only country where the visiting team's % out LBW was lower than it was in their home country and lower than NZ's.

Every other country there was a clear advantage to the home team. Some of which could be explained e.g. sub-continent players beater at coping with spin but the article was a leading part of Wisden's campaign for neutral umps.

I think they decided NZ umpires had an unconscious bias that favoured visiting teams because our umpires expected overseas players to be better than ours.

Pakistan would have been a country when you were visiting you simply wouldn’t allow the ball to hit your pads. I suspect you could have been a foot outside off stump got an inside edge onto your pads and still given out.

@virgil and conversely the home players could be struck on the pads right in front of the stumps playing back to a straight ball and be given NO. Was Miandad ever out LBW in Pakistan?

Waugh and Gillespie - there might have been another, as well.

Sometimes it's not so much the decision as the timing of the decision in the context of the match.

In this day and age and with the technology they have at their disposal I don’t think it’s too much to expect pretty much flawless officiating.

At least you can't blame home town bias. (Umpires Cronin and Weber... looking for short runs ... Snedden ... Chappell ... underarm...)

Wasn’t it Steve Randall and Darrell Hair in that match?

That was Llong wasn't it? I always read that like he has a stutter.

That was DRS too wasn't it? Didn't help much there.

Sure was DRS. That's why it was so unforgivable... And my point is the modern DRS would get a very different conclusion.

Llong I recall as well, I think you're right

Yeah, but we always get done on the way through like with the Voges "no-ball" dismissal in Adelaide.

Yesterday was the 2 year Anniversary where we were blind robbed in the ODI WC Final.
    Some consolation winning the WTC.
Its nice seeing the bulk of the cricketing world agree we were robbed too, so many comments from fans all over the world saying it should have either been shared or won by us.

    Still hurts tho.

More than some…..I’d take the test championship over winning the pyjama tournament any day that ends in a Y.
