I always thought of him as a poor man's Luka with no rebounding given he's half a foot shorter. But he has really blossomed these playoffs.
That's a new one to me. You usually hear him being compared to Steph Curry.
More because they have been vying for the title of "best young player in the NBA" for the past 2-3 years. And they are the same draft class, having been swapped between teams on a draft day trade. And they are both PGs albeit very different styles.

@mariner4life LBJ is the one driving this truck. He's on of the guys crying that because the All Star break had all these super stars play without a rest they've not been able to get up for the playoffs.
I said as much on an Instagram post earlier in the week. Perhaps it's just that we are seeing a changing of the guard. New superstars.
It just sounds like a bunch of entitled arseholes are pissed and don't rate the new shiny super stars.
-
@raznomore I don't get this whinging about the short season turnaround... none of the players would've taken a 30% pay cut to play fewer games. Same money + fewer games shockingly doesn't work from a business perspective.
Bucks beat the Hawks like a rented mule so normal service resumes.
-
I totally get the complaining. They lost 3 months of rest. It's hardly unreasonable to expect the older athletes to be impacted by that, those that have spent 10+ years getting their schedule right.
It's not an excuse for anyone, but it's clearly had an impact on the seasons outcomes. And it's not like the complaints are new, they were all made before the season started.
As for the financial side , maybe the players would have made the same choice to play if asked to give up 30% of their salary. Very likely not, but who knows, they weren't given the option as far as I know.

Broooo, that's BS. What current older superstar doesn't pump up the new guys? You really think Paul, Lebron, Kawhi, KD, Curry, aren't embraced the new guys?
Who are these entitled stars you speak of???
-
@voodoo hey I'm still a fan. But let's not act like there's no duplicity here. Sure they gas the young guys but the moment they feel unseated or pushed out of their comfort zone a lot of the senior superstars get testy. This is an exact example Instead of celebrating that there may be a change of guard we are hearing this shit now. Case in point. Same shit at the All Star break. Same thing when the Lakers, for example, were made to go through the play-in tournament.
Something bigger than them is happening here and it's got nothing to do with player load-management.
-
@raznomore I dunno mate, what makes the greats great is the fact the they believe they're the best even when they no longer are. MJ, Kobe, now Lebron etc. Without that attitude you probably never make that level, Timmy D the rare exception!
All I'm saying is that I reckon the complaints are pretty legitimate this time around. The short off season was brutal, and the injuries this season are off the charts - coincidence??? I don't think so.
Likewise the play-in - I get the frustration. I understand why people like it, and what is can maybe do for meaningless reg season games. But at the same time I absolutely HATE that Curry carried that carcass of a GSW team to 8th spot then misses out on the chance to push Utah over 7 games because they blew 1 game against Memphis
Edit, just to add, before I inevitably get jumped on, LeBron is a dick. A try-hard, narrative-seeking, image-obsessed dickwad.
Just for clarity!
-
@voodoo I agree that there is a massive amount of narcissism required to push through to the next level(Duncan and probably IMO Curry excluded). That God level. But for it to hold water we would need to be seeing some pretty low bar playoff games. As in the playoffs were ruined because the big dogs aren't there. Like if it's just the best of what's left then there would be no entertainment. We've have a bunch of 7 game series. Some new superstars unearthed. Booker and Young especially. It's been great.
We're just going to have to agree to disagree mate.
-
@raznomore I actually don't think we are disagreeing at all! These playoffs have been really fun, I'm loving them! It's great to see new teams win, and great to see young guys thrive.
I just also hear the narrative that there has been an unprecedented level of injuries, that isn't really subjective - Lebron, AD, KD, Harden, Kyrie, Kawhi, C Paul, Murray, Embiid, CJ, Klay - all injured for a decent amount of time and all helped shaped the playoff outcomes.
Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing for those neutral fans of the game (like me) , but I can also see how certain players or fans can be a bit pissy

Suns go up 3-1 and should make the NBA Finals. Should.
Meanwhile, I agree that the short off season has had an effect on injuries especially to the more seasoned pros. But tough shit guys, this is where the rubber meets the road in terms of the players doing what needed to be done in order to have a near full season, and full bank accounts. Suck it up you poor millionaires, and STFU.

The Suns are looking very strong. Ayton and Booker have thrived in the playoffs, all of the other players are contributing significantly and CP3 is, well CP3
-
Today’s game showed how much the Clippers were exposed without Ibaka more so than Leonard. Would’ve been good to have Leonard for sure, but Ibaka is a very good defender on the switch. Would’ve drawn Ayton away from the basket plus troubled the Suns defence a bit more than how Morris and Zubak play.
-
Yeah, I really like this Suns team (bar that flopping whining bitch Paul), but I'm really not sure they're that good yet. Still a season away maybe. They made very hard work of this despite the Clips being woeful and terribly coached. If you can't put away a team missing Kawhi, Ibaka, and reliant on Reggie Jackson taking 24 shots, then you're not worthy of making the finals.
Pretty shitty game I thought. Yeah, some aggressive D which is good. But some inept reffing, some awful shooting, and current rules that encourage intentional fouls and cause the last minute of close games go for 20 minutes, does not make for a good advert for the game.

Missing clutch open jumpers and flopping to sell calls at the death you mean?
-
@voodoo haha, love the Reggie Jackson diss. Jackson rarely attempted that many shots in a game even when he was ball hogging in Detroit.
What about the 11 missed FTs from the Clippers! Playoff PG had more troubles there today.
It was an ugly game all round.
On the Suns, I don’t mind the team also, and I’ve said what I think about CP before. I like Bridges (even snagged a Nova 25 shirt a few years ago), Saric (liked him since he played for Philly), Booker, Payne, Cam Johnson, Craig
-
@voodoo the Suns may not need to be one of the greatest teams ever to with this comp this year. We should now make the finals and then all we need to do is win one more series. And that series could yet be against a team without an established superstar that we match up well against (my biggest worry would be Capela getting on top of Ayton).
But to add further context to the 20/21 Suns, they did finish #2 in the West and even though both the Lakers and Nuggets were missing key personnel, each still had their biggest star. Ayton and Booker continue to step up, Paul does Paul most games, and the depth is incredible with Crowder, Bridges, Payne, Johnson, Craig, Saric and Kaminsky in support.

Bogdanovic is having a shocker. Can’t hit anything, even wide open ones.
