    @nepia the one game he played for the chiefs for like five minutes he looked very dangerous

    Kini is more like Nareki and Reece in size so not your typical big Fijian winger. He needs to get on the field and injuries seem to run in that family.

    @ploughboy Wrampling to replace Poihipi in the squad? He is a midfielder who can play on the wing. Sullivan was finally given an opportunity and did nothing wrong so it would be harsh to let him go instead.

    Yep, that 5 minutes doesn't really lead me to reevaluate my thought. 🤣

    Hopefully he does live up to it if he keeps being selected for the Chiefs.

    @stargazer said in Chiefs 2021:

    @nepia Yep, he got a lot of media attention during his 1st XV days, because he scored a lot of tries and had an AB brother, but the fact is that he only finished try scoring opportunities created by some brilliant players inside him: Fakatava, Toala and especially McClutchie. I haven't seen him shine that much for Taranaki. I'm still on the fence.

    Similar story when Naholo played for NZ Schools in 2017 - the NZ backline was stacked - Etene Nanai, Quinn Tupaea and Leicester Faingaanuku to name a few.

    From memory all of the above stood out more than Naholo when they played the Aussie Schools.

    @bovidae
    thats the big question
    i think stevenson had contract for next season.wainui might not be the best player but has heaps of mana and would die for the cause.lowe probaly has next year in contract. poihipi /sullivan most in danger and could be unfair to replace .tiatia could be in firing line as well. simply we need more xfacter out wide as cliff said so a tough decision might have to be made.
    i did hear a whisper that gatland could be on move but he still has 2 years on his contract i believe.
    if i was picking gatland/sullivan/tiatia/poihipi in that order on chopping block

    Tiatia signed a 2-yr deal so contracted for 2022 too.

    Poihipi probably only contracted for this year as he was the late signing.

    @oleoleole I wish the coaches could see what we see his talent is obvious and with good coaching could be a weapon out wide

    The problem is I don't think we have alot of spots to be filled for next year but if the coaches are wise they will know we really lacked flair out wide I have no qualms with our forward pack maybe sign finau maybe a hooker if Harris doesn't resign our midfield looks good I think they will sign wrampling if tahuriorangi doesn't have a contract next year I'd go for Cortez lee ratima or Cameron roigard with retallick back and cane I think we will be good

    @cliff Even for Waikato, they used Osborne more than Te Whare. You wouldn't think that a player of that build could be so quick.

    @cliff yeah he's played for Matamata. Realised that he's married to a chick I went to school with so he's probably hanging around there.

    So looks like McKenzie may not be back for the Chiefs next year: a huge blow if true.

    @canes4life I hope it's only a sabbatical like contract and he comes back for the ABs aiming for the next RWC. I think his selection in the ABs this year might be a pointer that it is?

    @nepia yeah I hope he's back. I feel we really missed his impact off the bench at that last World Cup because of injury. Just adds that extra spark that no one else can IMO.

    At his age, with a WC 2 years away, he can fuck off and stay here.
