Yes. Plumtree admitted that Lomax is still a project.

How do guys like that get a free pass to stay in the test squad, while others get sent to NPC, or never get picked in the first place?

How many tackles was de Groot making per game in SRA? His workrate was mentioned by both Fox and Plumtree.

"Workrate" picks, especially those that play for teams that defend a lot, have often been duds. I'd rather have players that dominate collisions, and don't have to play on the back foot most of the game.

@chris , the other thing is , now that Christie is an All Black , how much game time is he really going to get at the Blues .?.and you are very astute, he has one of the better passes both ways and in my opinion one of the better high kick games in the country .and is a bloody good defender ,.he’s getting totally screwed at the Blues , have heard he’s looking at a move ..the Saders would be an awesome fit , look how that panned out for Bryn Hall .

Yep I would be a big fan of picking him up for us.

@chris Is Enari staying at the Crusaders? He was an absolute gun at U20 level, then basically didn't play for several years. Has also suffered under poor coaching at Canterbury. There must be something wrong with him if he doesn't move to get more opportunity, as he will have doomed any international aspirations by staying in the same franchise.

OK but Ta’avao isn’t A1 in scrum and a bit long in tooth to be project.

Rumour around he may not get contracted 50/50 I hear.
When he has been given a chance he hasn’t taken them made some basic errors.
He may have lost Confidence within the coaching group.

Will both Moody and Tu'ungafasi be back for the Bledisloe Cup and RC games? That would make our front row look a hell of a lot better.

According to the information published by the media (assuming it's based on info from the franchises), both Moody and Tu'ungafasi will miss the July tests. Nothing said about Bledisloe Cup and RC, so they may be back. 🙏

@chris At least he's moved to Hawkes Bay. Ozich has seemed to be a massive improvement on Philpot there.

Enari has been out of NPC and SR for at least a year, because of a horror leg injury. I think it was 2019?

He has now moved away from Canterbury and will be the top dog in the Magpies' squad, with both Weber and Fakatava unavailable. The Magpies have great coaches. He now gets the chance to prove himself and should grab the opportunity with both hands. If successful, who knows whether/where he'll end up playing Super Rugby?

Would've like to see more power in the outside backs e.g. Rayasi. Is Fainga'anuku too slow to be a wing at international level?

Yeah - I wouldn't have minded seeing either of those two in there as a project.

But, both still make a lot more errors than you'd want from a fully-fledged AB.

    Raw talent though.

The more you look at the squad the worse it gets.

Surely the one advantage of playing Tonga and Fiji is you can blood some newbies.

So they took last year's poor winger group and gave them another go minus the unavailable Clarke?

They replaced Clarke with who exactly? Ennor?

    Cripes it's infuriating.

@kiwimurph Watched extended highlights from last year's game vs. Argentina in Newcastle. We had so many opportunities and breaks we couldn't finish off. It was like watching a poor Blues performance.

WTF did Bridge and Ennor do this year to earn selection?
Or last year for that matter.

    @frank Being injured?

Edited to add that their selection is consistent with the practice the ABs have followed for years, i.e. you can't lose your spot in the squad if you're injured.

@kiwimurph I don't really mind any of the individuals that have been picked per se.

The big deficiency - especially without Clarke (and even Goodhue) - is the scarcity of power players.

We could have Smith, Mo'unga, Bridge, Havili, Ennor, Reece, McKenzie!

All decent in their own right, but as a collective, Snow White might be on the selection panel! 🙂

402 days since Argentina last played. Destroyed the ABs in the worst performance I've seen since the Mains era. Lomax smashed up front, Frizell had the worst performance by an AB 6 since Todd Blackadder, and actually probably a lot further back. Really hope neither of those bums ever play for NZ again.

This type of effort can never be tolerated again. Foster should probably have resigned after this disaster.

Those are the stakes when you select favourite project players and "workrate" chumps.

In the rematch, Akira Ioane handled Pablo Matera to such a degree that he was on top physically. This was a big part of the ABs dominating possession.

After the SR-TT final, Aaron Smith noted that they were surprised by how well the Blues controlled the wider channels they targeted, and in fact were on top physically out there. The less than astute observers of NZ rugby didn't notice that Akira Ioane was dominating collisions on defence and offence in those channels - his role for the Blues - and thought he had an average game. They are also bums. They want the inept Frizell to start again. They are stupid and have the memory of a goldfish.
