Conway flicks it to mid on. Soft wicket after all that hard work to get to 54 in very tricky conditions. And they are going off for bad light.

Stumps. 101-2. NZ's day but Conway's dismissal slightly takes the edge off it.

3 days to go. Lots of rain tomorrow. All three results possible but draw looks most likely IMHO.

Yeah, agreed. Frustrating as all hell, after 3 weeks of great weather, to get a week of dogshit and the long range forecast, excellent again for month after this week. Sods law.

If there's two days play left (I think there is), then I think we have a chance. It's tough going out there, but we've GOT To get a lead. A lead of 50/60 will be fantastic in these conditions, just as a shortfall of 50 will push things heavily in India's favour.

The most frustrating thing though throughout has been the comm's. It's basically been Indian coverage with a bit of Doull. And all of the talk of great test matches over the years have ALL been about India, Australia and England. I think the commentators would regularly go for 30 odd minutes without even really mentioning New Zealand. I killed the TV after Ashwin started and one of the comm's said "Conway will have never faced a bowler as good as Ashwin".

Ok dickhead, he's face all NZ Bowlers I'm sure, as well as Broad, Anderson etc ... but yeah, he's never faced a decent bowler.

    Morons.

Yeah the comms are annoying as fuck. Kaneria and even Sangakkara are awful fan-boys.

If we lose more time due to rain, in theory they can add extra overs to the remaining days but the light is so bad that's probably not possible anyway.

Is this all some kind of coma dream? Jamieson is almost comical at this point, and now Conway is doing a batting impression of him.

A lot of game still to go and plenty of chances for India to pull it back but I'd rather be in our shoes than there's right now.

A mate predicted that they'd get about 240 and I thought he was dreaming.

I ended up watching without sound not because of the fanboy stuff so much but that it was just drivel. Craig MacMillan is cricket's equivalent of Justin Marshall (or maybe it's because they sound alike). The whole team seem to have been told that they need to fill every moment with chatter which just means that the quality bits (and there was a few good insights at times) were hidden amongst all the stating of the obvious and cliches.
Just put it on the spot and let the ball do the talking FFS.

Moan over and the cricket is great in an unusual way. This has the potential to be a tight finish. Let's hope so (and that it goes our way).
I'm not going to hope for or predict anything here due to superstition.

No surprise the coverage is biased towards India.
You only have to visit circinfo and see that India arent dominating. Not alot of articles attached to the test.
If Jamieson was Indian there would be 3 just on him with a full in depth stat based article praising him as the best anyone has ever seen.
I know India cricket are our paying overlords but it would be nice if it was slightly more balanced...

I think it’s a case of NZ being chock full of class players at the same time that is fucking with peoples perceptions so I can kinda see their point…..I can scarcely believe it myself, I mean look at the starts Jamieson and Conway have made to their careers ???

    That is dead plumb

I thought so. Height? Sliding down?

    looks OK

    It was definitely reviewable though.

Definitely - when you're Virat Kohli.

Shane Watson, not so much.... 🙂

Quite unbiased considering Matt Henry wrote it.

Rolling India the way we did was perfect, couldnt have asked for anything more.
The likely result will depend on our reply. From the sounds of it high scores arent very common at previous tests played here.
As said above, a lead of 50 -60 might be all we need.
Though id feel more comfortable if it was closer to 150...

Need Kane to do something special and for someone at the other end to hang around.

Newstalk ZB has commentary led by Bryan Waddle, so it's not a bad option either.

And top efforts from Kyle and then the openers, tremendous work. Excellent platform for Williamson and Taylor to put an another 100 partnership, or at least one of them to lead the batting the same way Kyle led the bowling.

About 33 Runs per wicket on average which isn't really low but is on the low side. Another 5 rpw means another 50 per innings.

Assuming it might end up being a low scoring game, id say another 2 days will be all thats needed anyway.
The last couple of days including the 6th day sound positive forecast wise.

So stoked with how the team went yesterday. Really pleasing to knock them off for well south of 250 and holy shit our bowling unit was hunting in a pack, absolutely Iove it!! Didn't manage to watch much of our batting but great to see Conway and Latham lay that foundation. Surely we bring BJ in at next fall of wicket and tell him to go HAM? the least we can do to try and send him off in style - his keeping was absolutely mint.

Constant fluffing of India aside there was the odd moment they talked about how well NZ are going. Bishop dropped some great stats and Athers also joined in. It wasn't even faint praise lol

I heard Mike Atherton on the radio yesterday. He said the NZ team were good and for the first time ever in a series man for man NZ had a stronger batting line up than England. Not sure how accurate that is but I always admired him as a player.
