Now, who was busy telling us yesterday that the days of the craps were long gone?
I think we might have to ban him from posting jinxes for the day before each Black Caps match.
So waking up to CricInfo, I see the pointless in Tests uneconomical Santner even managed to bowl a no ball.

Disappointing from almost everyone but Conway. We've had two opportunities to really take control of this match and missed both.
On the other hand, our four best batsmen failed, but we still got to 378 so at least it's realistic to hope for improvement from others. Plus the lack of warmup time etc and we have no shortage of our favourite excuses for why the black caps will be better next time.
Neither side has a decisive advantage at the moment, but overall our position is better so hopefully we can pick up a couple of early wickets tonight.

Well, got niggly starts is probably a more accurate way of putting it but you’d bank on at least ones of them improving considerably next innings.
Wailing can be excused cos we all know he only gets runs in a crisis.

Nicholls earns a pass, BJ too

He’s certainly giving the haters a lot of ammo. He’s basically this generations Chris Harris’s but he keeps getting fucken picked !

Very much a Chris Harris, he's genuinely one of the first picks in the shorter form of the game, but for anything longer than 50 overs...
-
@majorrage so he got his hundy and double hundy with 6s!! fuck yeah bro.
Man, I wonder how many runs he had left in him - looked like he was ready to bat another full day

Hard to know - but, quite a few, I reckon.
I don't want to over-hype the guy, but on averages alone - he's twice as good as Bradman!
-
Looks like Robinson will be axed for the second test as the ECB wants to make an example of him. They also say they'll be vetting players social media accounts more stringently because heaven forbid they miss something mildly offensive on there before selecting a player.
I just absolutely can't stand this culture that is being created. I also know for a fact that the people enforcing these rules are far from perfect. They have done stupid shit themselves, they've offended people, they've told bad jokes, they've done everything they punish others for. How do I know that? Because they wouldn't be human if they hadn't.
Absolutely nobody is safe from this shit. It needs to stop, and corporations need to stop pandering to the perpetually offended because they are amplifying this 100 fold. Do we really want to create a world where everyone is stepping on egg shells lest they offend someone and lose their livelihood? What kind of fucked up utopia are these people trying to achieve here?

Back to the cricket, that was an extremely disappointing collapse in the end. CdG and Santner are not test quality players with either bat or ball - CdG will have his moments, but overall isn't going to trouble the top sides.
Game is evenly balanced, but we really do need a couple of wickets early tonight to get into their soft underbelly. Without Boult our lineup is a lot weaker so it could end up being a long day in the field. The last thing we want is to come out for our second dig more than 100 behind.

fucking thank you
he's a park cricket plodder at this level. I am just astounded he is a constant because he can occasionally get the moon out, and bowl some wicket-to-wicket military mediums.
-
@no-quarter I think GdG has way more (potential) upside than Santner in these conditions - the commentators mentioned GdG's record in county cricket is pretty good, but they also noted that the pitch has less grass than most county pitches.
The Robinson stuff just shows how far down the slippery slope we are. I think there is absolute self awareness from those in charge that they aren't perfect. But the driver isn't what they think or how they have acted themselves, but how they have to be seen to be acting on that historic stuff. It sucks that no organisation (to my knowledge) has found an effective way to say 'people often say dumb shit online, esp when young, so in this case the fact it's come out in the media is punishment enough'... or something like that.
-
I’m certainly not saying CDGH is a world beater, but by crikey he has made THE absolute most of his modest ( compared to others ) talents. He’s mugged his way to some impressive numbers.....
But he’s almost as bits and pieces as Santner is at this level overall. The wheels are gonna fall off sooner rather than later.

Surely his apology should suffice. Did he not cry enough or what ?

Obviously Robinson's prepared apology didn't have "tears" in the script.
Well I sure hope the “investigation” is worth everyone’s time and money and they get to the bottom of this catastrophe....

The comms mentioned that Colin bowls just like the CC guys with the best stats. Middling slow medium trundlers

They fucked up dropping Mitchell for CDG, hes been away too long least the former All Blacks Coaches son has recent form. He seems capable of playing above himself too.

Totally agree. Someone has rose coloured memories of CDG. He simply wasn't that good (outside favourable conditions) and didn't exactly offset any weaknesses with his pure will (like Wags). Mitchell had a very good domestic test season
