@rancid-schnitzel yea I found Seinfeld hit and miss, never got into Curb your Enthusiasm.
I loved George (who was apparently based on Larry David in real life) and Newman in Seinfeld and that was about it. I guess I just admire the finely chiselled heroic figure.
Jerry was easily the least funny out of all of them and a shit actor. That standup part before and after was generally really shit. But the bit parts were often brilliant. The parents for instance were perfect.
Jerry’s standup was fucken terrible but he was still a massive part of what made the show good. He did the straight man to everyone else’s kooky weirdness extremely well.

I'm the opposite, I can't watch Curb because it's just a whole show about George and my annoyance threshold for George is pretty slim.
The best Seinfeld episodes are truly brilliant but it will be interesting for me how the rest of the episodes are (the ones I don't remember off the top of my head).
I hear what you’re saying but Larry David made the cringe stuff work much better than George in my opinion. LD was SUCH a dickhead but in a hilarious way.

I can't watch it, it's like an American version of that guy.

US comedies? Barney Miller. Nothing ever really happened, it was mostly just about the crap coffee. But, I liked it..
I liked taxi. All star cast, this scene was one of their best
Jim as a salesman and De Vito's love-hate for cockroaches...so great..

At least he packed it round the arms too. Chandler just packed it round the face, moobs and gut and still has noodle arms.

@nostrildamus owned it though.

Yeah I loved Seinfeld, but CYE never caught my attention.
My favourite comedy out of the US would probably be The League I reckon.
Oh yeah, I really like The League, wouldn't get close to my favourite US comedy though - that's Community.
Oh shit yeah I'll go first equal.

And to answer the actual Thread Topic...
No.
No, of course I didn't fucking watch it. Christ.
In order to watch it with any context, I'd need to go back and watch the original... and fuck that. I am perfectly content with my only knowledge of fucking Friends being absorption via pop culture references.
Also - I heard that it's terribly racist, homophobic, misogynistic, and all that other nasty stuff.

I just stumbled on some early eps of Its always sunny in Philadelphia and The IT Crowd, the former with way more series, either worth investing the time to watch.
Rob McElhenney is damn young in IASIP compared to Mythic Quest haha

The IT Crowd is great, I didn’t get into Always originally but am going to give it a second go at some stage as lots of fans of the above mentioned The League say the tone is often fairly similar.

@nepia I watched the 1st few of IASIP last night, some good shit along with stupid.
Is similar humour to mythic quest which is unsurprising.
From what I remember it was extremely low budget in that first season.

Yeah I tried watching a bit of this years ago with a rebound who loved it, but just didn't click for me.

Yeah - It's Always Sunny....
- started off super low-budget
- I can certainly see why some people wouldn't like it - but I generally really enjoyed it
- When they first got into the groove of just EVERYBODY being narcissistic selfish fluffybunnies, was some good times
- The more absurdist stuff was hit-and-miss
- Danny DeVito joining it was unexpected... apparently he watched a few, really enjoyed it, asked to do a cameo... and then suddenly became a permanent fixture? Or something like that? You gotta be pretty happy though, creating a shitty little comedy show, and suddenly getting DeVito as a full cast member.
