It was a sweeping generalisation made by someone living outside of NZ. -

Too lazy to find the appropriate thread but watched Waikato club rugby and think Sevu Reece, 13/wing, is going to be a real star.

I saw plenty of Reece playing for HBHS, and I agree. He started out on the wing in the early games but moved into the midfield and excelled. He played well for the NZ Schools last year too. He'll be on Tietjens radar soon.

Melville has quite a few ex-HBHS players through the Nigel Hotham connection.
-
^^ what is that Japaese tournament the video coverage is from?

The Sannix World Rugby Youth tournament. It's an annual tournament held in Japan consisting of 8 Japanese school teams and 8 international school teams nominated by their rugby union. The NZ representative has been the national champion from the previous year but not all teams that attend are the best in their country (e.g. South Africa). The NZ teams have generally done well and won the majority of Sannix tourneys in recent years. One point to note is that the team may look quite different from the national champion team due to school leavers and age restrictions.

He is playing for the Storm right now for those that want a look at him

NRL Game on atm (Melbourne vs Bulldogs) and the commentator mentioned in the first half that Nelson is staying put. Wonder how or why those rumours started in the first place.

-
probably the usual stuff,

managers shopping their players around near contract renewal time to up their asking price and hopefully create a bidding war.

so that's the 2023 world cup fucked for us then?

I think Rugby as a sport is fucked for us now, to the Lydia Ko bandwagon folks !
-

Since it was apparently all just agent-talk, I'd like to put forward a proposal that this thread be deleted and we shall never speak of this NRL superstar again in any rugby union capacity. He toyed with our hearts, the cruel yet physically impressive bastard. Nelson Asofa-Solomona, that is, not Canes4Life. Although C4L might be carrying tickets to the gun show for all we know.
