@machpants I saw the Canes tackling stats tonight and they made 98% of their 127 tackles. Pretty insane, the attack was more the issue tonight.
Sadly, as I mentioned in the games thread, a lot of those tackles lacked dominance and the rebels got go forward in them

...back to the a actual game
Read the nz time so was all ready for a later kick off, good old Stan meant I could watch delayed when I realised
Far from perfect but we looked like we were playing with confidence which is fun, so wish we still had fakatava
Gregory continues to be real solid in midfield and even sio looks better on the wing, wish some had read my posts earlier!
Anyone hear what happens to Gilbert? Hope he’s not injured again
Himeno is a player
Think we could have kicked on and thrashed them but they fought back a bit and only some goal line defence saved us, two or three turn overs on our goal line in quick succession
Over all happy
The force seem pretty bloody gritty, and don't give up

We saw that last week as well.
Teams need to get their start/bench balance right against them and hold a bit of experience/firepower back.
I think the Landers selection did this well whether by design or luck. -
@machpants they've always been like that and generally tough at home.

Question: how many of the Force and Rebels are from WA and Vic?
Not a dig. Genuinely want to know if there is development in these areas.
And who else other than Womble and Leali'ifano have made it to the top from out of these areas?
The Haylett-Petty brothers learnt their trade in WA.

How many North Harbour players were playing for the Highlanders in the mid-2000s....
My observation is that club rugby in Vic has improved markedly since the Rebels came to be both from a playing and generally from administrative standpoint.

Not my point. I genuinely want to know what's developing in these emerging areas.

@booboo I think there are a few coming through - Pone Fa'amausili being a Victorian schools product.
Again: pathways. The existing setup leans heavily toward NSW and QLD because of their schools systems. If Victoria is serious about rugby as an alternative to Aussie Rules, the private schools there could be well suited to taking on Pasifika guys to make it happen.
Making rugby happen in public schools might work down there for 7s as an Olympic carrot, but it is AFL town, really.
