Blades down, Canaries up. West Ham doing Fulham no favours..

All hell breaking out in European Soccer as plans for a break-away owners-run European Super League emerge.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56794673
A massive betrayal of the fans and centuries of traditional by American and Russian capital IMHO.

I'm sure there's more to come out about this but without German and French clubs it isn't going to be a Super League. Clubs sloshing around in EPL TV cash want a higher percentage of that cash.

i think if this looks like being a real thing then the chances of PSG and Bayern not being involved is miniscule. Who would the 3rd be? Ajax?

Chuck em out of the EPL, don't relegate anyone this year and promote 6
Really it's farcical. I liked Jamie Carraghers tweet basically calling out Liverpool. Supporters groups universally against it.
Just rich fluffybunnies wanting to get richer. The clubs are in the main a mix of nouveau riche wannabes and a group relying on fading glories.

Gary Neville, who very rarely says anything bad about Man U was scathing.
This is the inevitable conclusion to the funding and ownership models that have become essential to compete at the top level.
-
And Carragher is absolutely right about Liverpool
This just makes the clubs whole schtick of "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "this means more" etc even more garbage than most people already knew it was.

TBH I'm surprised it took this long. I remember back to my brother calling me about Shearer's transfer fee to leave Blackburn Rovers. Look at the price of kit and tickets to support a Premier League club. People's game? Rich fluffybunnies game you mean.

im kind of in the "let them go" basket
there is a bigger gap between the "big 6" and the proverbial 7th than probably the next 20 places
it would probably be a much more interesting comp without them
I've always thought the promotion and relegation was what was missing from a lot of rugby, it adds real stakes at the bottom as well as the top...and these teams want to get rid of it?
-
Football sold its souls years ago and the big clubs have finally sold out down the river their real fans and the communities they were sent up to represent.
An announcement in the middle of the night European time to avoid the ire of supporters, journalists and politicians from the UK and Europe, but to please Asian money markets says it all.
In the spirit of the announcement, they should base the 12 Judas teams of the new Super League in tax havens and authoritarian regimes. How about Dubai Spurs, Dinamo Chelski, Jeddah Sky Blues, Real Shanghai, Cayman Islands Red Devils, Virgin Island Reds, Bermuda Old Lady and Tehran Gunners?

The teams in this league are so "Super" they could only mange 5 wins between them over the weekend. Despite their only being one game between two of them.
Juve lost to Atalanta
Arsenal could only sneak a draw with Fulham in the 7th minute of extra time
Inter drew with Napoli
Real with Getafe
Liverpool yet to playFucking Super - don't make me laugh

Arsenal being there is pretty funny.
Spurs too, who couldn't win a loaded chook raffle.I'm interested to see how this plays out actually. I am pretty sure the big clubs just expect this to take over from European competition, but how do they honestly expect their FAs to act? Or are these guys right, and they are too big and too important to the broadcast deal that they will be able to do what they want?
