    @kiwimurph thanks.

    Of the two incidents, I'd put Ofa's worse by some margin. Eklund was stupider, as it clearly contravened the framework - but the risk was pretty low

    Edit: Penalty on field = Red (Kurt)
    YC on field = Penalty or less (Ofa)
    edit edit, ok so they sound like Yellow wasn't wrong

    I still have the feeling that Ofa's "technique" is going to cost us big time in a test match, one day. It seems he was just lucky, this time, that it was his arm making first contact with the shoulder, and not his shoulder making first contact with the neck/face. With how the game is officiated in the NH, he's probably going to see a red card if he does this in a test match with a NH referee.

    I agree, needs to change.

    That said, Scooter needed to get his hands off the damn ball!

    @stargazer This also feels like an example of the new World Rugby framework relating to Head Contact Process that came into effective earlier this month being applied.

    Ofa has too improve his technique, sure. But at least he was trying a clean out and playing rugby.

    I'm more worried about Moody costing us with thuggery like this;

    @kirwan Moody is a proper dirty bugger who sorta flies under the radar a bit. Sort of like his predecessor who wasn't shy of a cheap shot. Ofa cops shit because he does his very openly, and his tackle technique is too high.

    To be fair, that last one he was pretty low 🙂

    But you make my point for me, we are far more likely to get punished by a NH ref for acts of thuggery than a high tackle.

    @mariner4life Yeah, pretty embarassing to just ignore an elbow to the throat.

    @kirwan Yeah Franks got away with clocking Parsons during a game that same year too.

    The Thug Brothers (Franks) and Moody all like/liked to dish it and all seem to escape the condemnation that other players get.

    To be honest - I'd be pretty doubtful if that was borne out by statistics.

    The three red cards the ABs have had in recent times were SBW, Scott Barrett and Ofa. I don't think any of them were for out and out thuggery.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/all-blacks/99278416/all-blacks-see-plenty-of-yellow-and-a-bit-of-red-in-2017

    The graph in this article shows we got 56 cards 2008-2017 - the only red one was SBW's - so it seems unlikely that any were for serious thuggery. Plenty will have been for accumulated offences.

    @chris-b Been more than a few games where we have said "lucky the ref didn't see Moody doing that".

    Just addressing Stargazers point about NH refs, more likely to get done on stuff lke that he's been lucky to get away with.

    But I guess that doesn't exist because he wasn't penalised for it?

    @kirwan The Citing Commissioners tend to pick thuggery up later though. I think Moody might have been done retrospectively for that video you posted. But, I don't think there's a lot of it.

    Overwhelmingly, I think we are more likely to suffer a card for a mistimed tackle than for thuggery - because you see the first pretty regularly and the second almost never.

    No doubt the Refs not just in SR will now be aware and watching Ofa and his clean out technique.After him doing the same in the AB game and getting carded he has reminded every Ref again that there is a problem there.I would expect the spotlight to stay on Ofa for a while.

    One was for a cleanout and another was for a high tackle, so not the same actions.

    I don't remember saying that I asked the question is that 2 technical issues to fix for Ofa because if he cleans out like that again he is dicing with a long suspension.
