@paekakboyz You are still allowed attendances of up to 100 at level 20 so your number might come up in the sweepstake draw for those hundred tickets.

Fuck, things have definitely escalated since I last checked. What’s the go at level 20 ? Do I need to set up a toilet in the bedroom ?

Level 2 disruption aside, this has been the most appalling scheduling by NZC. Starting on a Monday night was ok just because it was Australia and it was Hagleys' lights' debut so we sold it out. But then a day game midweek followed which is ludicrous at the best of times and worse still is thoroughly disrespectful to cricket fans who subscribe to Spark Sport wholly to follow the game but can't watch it because (hello, NZC, do you fucking realise this??) they have jobs. This is then followed by a week long break including a weekend with no games.

As for Jamieson, this isn't a surprise. He was selected for the worlds' premiere T20 tournament on the back of test form and has been pitched in against the T20 side most likely in the world to enjoy his bounce.

@shark the day game was absolutely crazy. I didn't even check the time so only realised I'd completely missed the game when coming on here after work. What the hell were they thinking?

Day game fpr a T20 is just dumb. A day game during the week is retarded

And this is T20, this "tour" should take 2 weeks maximum. Although if they need to quarantine for 4 weeks because of it...

Friday night's ratings will be interesting. I'm sure Sky wasn't that keen to move the rugby so it will be SRA vs T20 cricket. I guess it comes down to your preference and if you have Sky or Spark sport.

Tomorrow and then Friday. Some games will be double headers with the women's T20 vs England.

Not only that, but the Aussies only came out of MIQ on Sunday night, so it was less than 24 hours to playing.

You'd think it'd be far better to go
    Weds evening Hagley
Friday avo Dunedin (finish at 5, to allow the rugby double header)
    Sunday 4pm

then , if you really need a break, fun a Friday/Sunday double again - or a Fri/Sat game at the same venue.

    bah, bloody humbug

@nzzp Yep much better plan, that one.

It was really weird going to a cricket game after work, and on a Monday night. We had discussed getting a marquee and making it a customer event, but it was a bloody Monday night. One of our competitors got a large quantity of GA tickets and had food and drinks on prior at a nearby bar but the turn-out wasn't great, being a Monday bloody night.

I went along with some clients, and we had a surprisingly good turnout. Covid has canned so much sport that it was a bit of an event.

Superb venue, loved it - it's like the Basin but with a nice surround. And a short walk to town afterward πŸ™‚

Read somewhere yesterday that the weird scheduling of this tour was originally based on avoiding a clash with the Australia vs South Africa test that would have been on last weekend.

    No. Not what I heard.

NZC jigged it so the last 3 T20s would be double headers with the women's T20s.

So, on the weekend just been - the NZ and England women were still playing (and finishing) their ODI series. Now have 3 match T20 series. All 3 will be double headers. Hence the huge gap and the empty weekend for the men.

Is it worth it? The covid timing is just bad luck, so can't plan for that. But, they left last weekend entirely blank for their premier money-earning product. Wouldn't have been a catastrophe if only 2 of the 3 women's T20s were double headers and NZC had taken advantage of a blank weekend in Auckland and got 30k paying punters.

Playing T20 double headers doesn't increase the product value, as in the tickets aren't priced higher. But they do get 2 games worth of TV content for the price of only setting up the cameras etc once.

And maybe the women's game is seen as growth area.

Personally, I'm not interested. But I only have so much interest. I'm also not interested in BBL, by the time IPL rolls around in autumn I'm sick to death of the sport anyway, but if I wasn't , doubt I'd have the interest.

I've been to 2 Super Smash double headers last 2 seasons, as my daughter has started to play and is more interested in the women. But, lets call her 'interest' very vague and fleeting, she's young. Amelia Kerr getting a hat-trick with googlies is good sport, unfortunately I couldn't pick up that nuance from the bank with an 8 year old distracting me ....

Gee, they make it a long day though if you plan to stay for the men's game.
