I wouldn’t mind seeing that may need bigger squads to get through it though

hardly a show piece when the teams are playing each other that often, its like the RC when you end up playing aussie four times a year anything special starts to disappear

@Kiwiwomble Yeah, 3 rounds might be a bit too much. If this happens, they must come up with something (I have no idea what) to make it interesting enough for people to come back to the stadions yet again. Maybe a tournament with a completely different format, crazy rules, ....

@Stargazer don't know if was just me but there looked like there was a distinct drop in attendances in the second round, let alone what they might be with a third

maybe one of the three games against the same team needs to be taken rurally?

@Kiwiwomble Just outside their main centres would be a start. Blues to Albany or Whangarei, Chiefs to NP, Pukekohe or Rotorua, the Canes to Napier or (heaven forbid) Palmy; Crusaders to Nelson, and Landers to Invercargill.

@Stargazer definitely, its at least where I would start

would also be the perfect time to crack out some LE local union homage jerseys, Highlanders maroon, Canes Green and white if in Palmy etc

@Stargazer Blues were due to play in Whangarei last year for their first RR game there in many years, but Covid put paid to that, like loads of stuff.

The Chiefs have offered to swap their first round bye with the Blues if Auckland remains in Level 3 after tomorrow (Newshub).

@Bovidae I wonder how that would work. The Blues have their bye in week 2, when the Chiefs play the Highlanders. If they had played the Hurricanes in round 2, it would have been any easy swap, but this will might mess up the entire schedule?

It might not be logistically possible but decisions will need to be made this week either way. As it was, the Chiefs would be disadvantaged compared to the other 4 teams by not having a proper pre-season game.

Maybe Rd 1 (or only the Blues-Hurricanes game) is played at a later date.

Why it's 'patently absurd' that the Blues aren't allowed to train a week out from Super Rugby Aotearoa

Why it's 'patently absurd' that the Blues aren't allowed to train a week out from Super Rugby Aotearoa

If the Blues cannot train together from Thursday in the region, it will throw a tight schedule into chaos. It doesn’t have to happen, writes Campbell Burnes.

    Rugbypass' stupidity shows again.

Bugger that, if the Blues don't turn up at the venue at the appointed time then that is a default win to the Hurricanes in my book!!!!! Might be the only win they have all season so they won't be looking a gift horse in the mouth when the five points are added to their Points Total column.
