So, can we conclude from the fact that the Chiefs have tagged Sky Sport, that it will be televised? The game still doesn't appear in the online tv guide ...

@Stargazer maybe they tagged them to let them know the game is on? 😉

The team to play the Hurricanes is the more experienced of the two, but I wouldn't read too much into the overall selections in pre-season games.

One thing that did stand out to me was the locking combos in each game. Ah Kuoi and Finau are on the shorter side while Lord and Van den Hoven are both 2 m locks. I would have thought you would selected a shorter and tall lock together.

@Bovidae Perhaps an opportunity to directly compare 'talls' and 'shorts' side by side in the same game?

Yep, perhaps a chance to put the pressure on the 'shorts' to step up at lineout time without a tall/safe go to, and see how they perform. Also to test how the tall locks go at a power game (as such) around the park.

    @Marty
Finau and Van den Hoven are also competing to be the injury replacement lock for McWhannell.

Ah Kuoi and Finau have been selected to play the canes...that's two taller locks.

The jerseys didn't really clash based on these photos.

As I said it was probably my old eyes and when the players were close it wasn't an issue. I do think that they could have had way more contrast from afar though.

I heard that the Chiefs are going after Joseph Manu from the Sydney Roosters.

Here are a few quotes from him from 2019.

"Ever since I was young I wanted to be an All Black. I’m still a big fan of them," Manu said. "Especially when it comes to World Cup’s. It’s a pretty big occasion for pretty much all New Zealanders.

"I love [watching] at the moment but one day I would love to play for them."

Legendary playmaker Dan Carter and Waikato superstar Mils Muliaina were his favourites players as a boy.

"Dan Carter is probably my favourite and then there are a couple of Chiefs boys - Mils Muliaina - I used to love watching him," Manu said.

Roosters rising star Joey Manu would one day 'love' to pull on the famous All Blacks jersey he idolised as a child.

    Club player?

Manu has some size, which we don't really have amongst NZ midfielders.

Why are NZR/rugby franchises suddenly going after potential code-hoppers? And why so late in a RWC cycle? I wonder whether the expectations that they are going to be good enough to be ABs aren't a bit too high?

Might not be the right thread but kinda I suppose.

I've heard it from a good source that Tei Walden nearly got a Chiefs contract this year but his injury stopped that. Also, he's been told that they're still keen once he's back from injury.

I would be more excited about this than I am about RTS.

Does Joey Manu go well? Don't watch league but had a google and he's a big dude and a NRL champ. Only 24 so still has some promise?
