what did Josh Mckay do to not get called back as cover for Gilbert or Koroi, especially after a good NPC

@Stargazer cover for the third string 10 just seems unnecessary, going to have to look if this is because of injury or sevens commitments
Koroi is training with the All Blacks Sevens, at the moment.
See also the Highlanders squad announcement of 3 December.
***Vili Koroi will assemble with NZ sevens team in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics

Emphasises some of the talent that had been running around for Ponsonby Rugby team in the Auckland club competition in the last 2 seasons that have moved on to Mitre 10 Cup or Super Rugby ,Freedom Vahakolo , (Otago) ( Highlanders)Johnny Cooper , (Northland)Tyrell Peita (Auckland)..along with Waimana Riedlinger Kapa (Auckland) and Soane Vikena (Auckland )( Blues) Robb Cobb ((Waikato)Joel Cobb Auckland ,..still the premier club team in NZ in my opinion ...they certainly attract the best talent ..keep an eye on Hamden Tuipulotu.., younger brother of .

@Kiwiwomble About Caleb Makene:
Napier born and raised. Went to Napier Boys' HS and played for their First XV.
Initially named in NZ Barbarians Schools' in 2014, but then promoted to NZ Schools'.
NZ U20 in 2016 (6 tries in 5 games), playing mostly on the right wing. Also played for NZ Universities (I think in 2017 and 2018).After leaving school, he went to Lincoln Uni in Chch, and was picked up by the Canterbury and Crusaders Academies. Signed by Canterbury for Mitre 10 Cup in 2016, but loaned to Ta$man, helping them reach the Premiership Final (against Canterbury) that year. Played in 2017 and 2018 for Canterbury, but after graduating from Lincoln Uni, he decided to go back home. He played for the Magpies in 2019 and 2020. In 2019 mostly at fullback, sometimes on the wing; in 2020, mostly at 10 (alternating with McClutchie) and IIRC one game at fullback.
He played one game for the Crusaders - in 2018 - against the French Barbarians.
He's been good for the Magpies. He got pushed out off the fullback jersey by Kurt Baker's arrival, and into the first five role by Tiaan Falcon's departure (not sure which one happened first), and handled the change well. A small, quick player.
This was the only clip I could find.

@Stargazer I think Makene must have gone to school in PutÄruru at some stage as a bunch of my friends from there shared the article and are friends with him on FB.
Putaruru has produced the odd First 5/8 ... Fox, Smith
