Americas Cup

But given they won it nine months ago, it seems to me poorly administered thus far - almost as if they meet monthly like a footy club committee.
The plan was always going to take the most time, and as @dogmeat says they had to deal with a new government.
3 parties involved is always going to fuck things up. Someone mention our government?
They still have plenty of time to build it.

Bump. Kind'a related, but sore from losing the Auld Mug, Larry and Russell have created a new sailing competition based on '50-foot foiling catamarans powered by wing sails which the organisers expect to reach speeds of more than 50 knots (93 kilometres per hour) as they fly above the water'.

If it doesn' thave the America's Cup, it'll struggle to hold spectator interest I suspect.

In the famous words of Dennis Conner..
"Get off the stage, loser"

The AC is back, the new boats look pretty scary and exciting in equal measure.
Here is footage of Dean Barker doing what he does best

And here's our boys doing it a little better

I am actually looking forward to this Americas cup.
These boats are pretty spectacular looking and I have got over the gecko on a hot stone look of these and they move out!
-
boats are supposed to go in the water.

No one's interested in your hollowed out tree trunk canoe racing series. The rest of us want speed.
-
I was going to see if there was an existing AC thread
big fan, cant wait, wish there were more challenges, a little worried if we win that even fewer challengers will want come down to NZ
If Ben Ainsle wins I know it will be an huge event on the isle of Wight

@taniwharugby I see what you did there

But how the fuck does a sailing boat go faster than the wind which is propelling it?
Apparent wind.
The boat is generating its own wind by moving. Freaky concept ay?
That's bullshit. Any "apparent wind" being created by the boat moving, is in the wrong goddamn direction.
I don't like it. Witchcraft has no place in sport. -
I will ABSOLUTELY watch the thing, every race we compete in. And I dont mind most of the advancements and boat improvents. What I don't love is when 1 boat is just ridiculously more advanced than the rest and its no longer F1, its like putting a Mercedes F1 car in a Saturday morning cart race.
Whilst I appreciate and really like having a significant design element to competing, I do want to some level of sailing skill retained.
