They probably thought it was one of their better chances of good weather, but February is about the only month I'd assume it wouldn't rain in NZ, even here

(though scheduling a cricket match always tempts rain, even in a drought...)

It rains all over NZ at any time of the year. I’m not sure why anyone is even commenting like it’s an unusual thing.
