Wholesale changes for B4, then again for Argie 1, are we in for a raft of changes again?
We need to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater by making a complete raft of changes.
But, bringing in e.g. Laulala for Lomax and even (to an extent) Barrett for Tuipolotu is bringing additional experience.
Which, in my view, means we can afford a few rookies. I'm suggesting Akira, Sotutu and Jordan, but two out of three will be acceptable.
I'll be pissed if we get none.

If Akira doesn't start there is something wrong that we just don't know about.

I thought exactly same about Matera penalty.
Frizell trip was really poor. For all he was poor in that passage, I don't think that was evidence of an attempted trip - the leg didn't swing anywhere near enough into the path of the Dirty Sanchez.
Aoane/Sotutu for Puma 2.
Agreed. It's so obvious it's infuriating.
Yeah - I think the attempted foot trip is a bit of a hatchet job on Shannon. And if you look at the wide shot at the end he's far from the only AB forward walking back.
However, that being said, it is definitely time to give Akira and Sotutu their chances.
The shoulder charge part isn't though. If that had connected it would have been yellow, and if he hit the head, another first half red card. Pretty stupid after the previous week.
And sorry, but the walk back was super lazy.

And, actually thinking about this a bit more - with Jordan having played five minutes of rugby in the past two months, maybe they're best just to leave him till next year now.

@Kirwan Yeah - the body check was dumb.
And yes, I'd like to see some urgency to get back - but, there's not actually any AB forward showing much urgency. At least two others just walking and the others just jogging.
And they deserved to be criticized as well. If this was Frizzel's tiral against Akira (he was used out wide like Akira was the previous game) he failed completely.
If he gets selected again I move that he inherits the Suitcase moniker from Thorne.
-
@Kirwan Yeah - but, to be fair you guys in the Akira fan club are always going to be marking Shannon harsher than he deserves.
Anyway, let's hope Akira gets a start this weekend and it doesn't get ruined by any foolish Blues team mates (or anyone else for that matter!

Don't think that English video guy is an Akira fan.
-
i actually dont mind that dudes video's...but some of it is cringe
Frizell gets like a minute of close ups and rewinding...for not actually achieving anything...matea checks savea off the ball, slightly, and its just him "checking Saveas respect "
I think calling that a trip attempt is a stretch too, yes, goes for a check and is not sprinting back as you would expect...but a leg off the ground does not a trip make

... says the founder and president of the 40 year old Romance Romano club
Edit: we all have our biases
-
@nzzp Also being fair, today's probably about the second time I've mentioned Romano in two years.
I probably commented on his performance vs Ta$man at the time.
Edit: I don't mind being the President, Founding Member and Principal Spokesman of the Will Jordan fan club!

if i can be serious for a moment
i would be classed as being in the AI fan club, so you can read in to the following what you want but
Frizzle isn't doing so well that he has an automatic lock on his spot. I wouldn't mind seeing of we can do better. It's incredibly frustrating that we are not being given that opportunity because reasons.
-
@mariner4life Also being serious, I agree with you. You may have seen me calling for Akira to play this weekend.
Frizell has been pretty good in a couple of his tests this year though, so I think we can bank that - and give Akira this weekend (and some additional chances in case he is poor) to see what he can do.
I'm also very keen to see Big Red Robinson get a chance next year.

agree, he's not substandard, and will do a decent job. he may even do better with a real #8...
but perfectly adequate is not the AB way.
of course, AI may prove to be a bust at the next level, and we go back to perfectly adequate.

Pretty hard to compare. Akira has had fuck all minutes to prove himself.
Frizell has lots more time and has been alright. But is alright good enough?
