@Kirwan he doesn’t pass the ball though that’s the problem.
Umaga Jensen is a better centre anyway.
I agree.
-
@Canes4life he never passes it. That's such a good and accurate point. How shit was perenara tonight?

This is the real problem with the ABs game play of just punishing on the counter, when forced to change plan it’s hard to suddenly try and take control of the game, slow it down, play for territory etc
Some of these guys just have the rugby smarts to change from fast and loose everyone can one hand offload to traditional roles etc
I disagree. We held the ball and scored from it early.
Then we decided that we didn’t want to play that way. Went back to kicking it away and trying to play off turnovers. And?
If the question is whether it’s coaching, selection, or player decisions, I think the answer is yes.
The kicking is fine because it’s better to be down in the right half, but the execution was off.
Especially with Hodge who eats 50 metre penalties for breakfast.
But we were box kicking for 10-20m gains and hoping for a turnover/mistake

Biggest worry for me is mental attitude when under the pump. Key players in the team just seem to go to pieces.
These players aren’t robots so are susceptible to pressure and circumstance. Even the very best AB teams have been put under the grill and not won. Just shows that sometimes it’s such a small margin between winning and losing.
It’s not meant to be a cop out, but there is an opportunity to learn from it and hopefully those that played tonight and get selected next week will do some things differently.
From my perspective we played poorly by the standards we’ve seen this year, but that’s sport where one week you are champions and the next you can look like a schoolboy side.
Aussies played well for periods but they also turned the ball over a hell of a lot too and looked scrappy. They got away with quite a few hands in the ruck but they tested the whistle in that regard. Some excellent individual play from Marika certainly was a big plus for them.

@Tim Reiko needs to learn how to pass the ball before he gets anywhere near that AB 13 jersey again. Leave him on the wing where he belongs.
So you like players that can pass well, unless that player is TJ.

Backline, top in their position currently...
- Smith
- Mounga
- Clarke
- ALB
- Rieko
- ...
- BB (had to deal with TJP tonight)
I think Jordan can make the 14 jersey his own, and honestly i think he could be the best fullback in the country as well.
- Weber
- Goodhue
- Dmac
-
@nostrildamus the comments on here have been about a lack of composure. Jacks strength is he is a really good decision maker and stays in the pattern making sure he does he does the basics well. Reiko still gets lost on D at centre and his passing game needs work. The selectors will go back to JG/ALB combo.
-
@Canes4life Not a number 8.

@Canes4life Did fuck all on defense. Impact player at best.
-
@Canes4life You clearly don't watch the games, which explains your takes.
Savea only made.go forward from the 60th minute onward. He is impact player at best.

This is easily our best backline
9 AS
10 RM
11 CC
12 JG
13 ALB
14 RI
15 BB
Edit - but we know the coaches will put JB at 14.
I actually feel Jordies test future is in the midfield. Don't think his skillset suits an outside back role.
But I also feel ALB/Rieko could become an amazing midfield combo and perhaps our top midfield combo for the next 4 year cycle. -

@Tim and how good was Ardie tonight?
In the second half?
-
@Tim he was into everything all night. Wtf were you watching? He made about three big carries in the first half and two clean turnovers. Don’t you remember Marshall harping on about his leg drive in that first half?
Wake up.
-
Weren’t we all saying savea should have gone off rather than Akira? I thought he was quiet in the first half but stepped up in the second
