The Bay v Hawkes

@Duluth was standing on sideline by last scrum. Ref calls hard to understand. Thought bop infringed first when they got scrum. But two earlier ones in sequence thought hb player should have incurred the penalty. So tough for poor ref to decide what to ping. Thought Trask Webber and van den Hoven kept bop in match with huge efforts. Most hb guys went very well. Great contest

Big turning point for me was pulling Ash Dixon , should have kept him out for the entire 80..congratulations to the Steamers, but I thought those missed opportunities would come back to bite.

Good point .

The real Bay until we meet again. Lost nearly every stat except scoreboard and penalties conceded, so bloody lucky to escape with a win. Happily take it though as there is always a good stoush between these two teams, even if accuracy was lacking by both teams at times.
The Bay have two tough games to come against harbour and Waikato, but Canterbury have to turn their season around with their last two against the Ta$man invitational XV and Auckland.
Interesting end to this season to come
Good luck to Hawkes next week in their shield match

Lucky lucky win. I'd have been very annoyed if the roles had been reversed.
That intercept try was critical as we were hanging on and HB were dominating in all areas. 2nd half was just messy as both teams couldn't hold onto possession.
What was the final penalty count? Felt like we were being pinged all day bit in the blustery wind kicking for goal wasn't really an option.
I don't think Narawa is fully fit. He's strapped up and he's lost some pace.

WTF. Moving this weekend so just watched the game. BoP should have had half a pack left with the repeated infringements in the mauls at the end.
Anyway, congratulations BoP, hope you can stay above Canterbury.
I thought Magpies played well against one of the big boys - Makene's intercept screwed us.

One of those nice games where it felt like we lost everywhere... except on the scoreboard. There were some tired players out there today, and while it was magic day in the sun for us as fans, I think it took it’s toll on quite a few of the players.
I was on the opposite side of the field to @ARHS so saw slightly more of Weber’s work rate in the second half and was very impressed. Not sure whether he was a sub or an injury towards the end?
Would have to watch the game on replay to have a look at a few of those penalties. It was one of those games where the call had to be made to the ref to “use your other arm as well”, though my temper probably wasn’t helped by having quite a few Magpies fans nearby
Good to see both teams spend a lot of time on the field with the fans at the end of the game. MiniSteppa got quite a few autographs that he was very happy with!

@Stockcar86 Canterbury is fortunate Ta$man and Auckland may be able to rest a few of their guns prior to finals. Plenty of permutations for relegation battle still. But I think Bop were goners if they lost today and then to Harbour.

@ARHS I'd be pretty surprised if there's much resting done.
Home advantage is very important for the play-offs, so I don't think either team will be taking any risks unless something very odd happens to secure their positions.
But, don't tell Auckland...
