Great to see Hodgman get a bench spot. He's been on a steady improvement for a few years now. A well earned debut
Plenty of other spots to disagree with.. in particular Sotutu should've got a start
I think another positive is Coles starting over Taylor.
Taylor looked flat last week. Two quality rakes so it’s a good sign to keep both hungry.

look at that, that's how you re-do a pack that turned out to be piss weak. You rissole a bunch of soft "technically proficient" cantabs, and bring in munters like Hayman and Robinson, promote Meews, and get some leadership in there with Rush and Gibbes.

But, you're right - by my reckoning we've probably got our 4th and 8th choice locks starting.
Retallick, Whitelock, Barrett, Tuipolotu, Dickson, Strange, Parkinson Vaa'i.

@Toddy benched Collins who was a starter under Mitchell. Mils on the wing, how dare Henry... from what I recall Mils had not played any wing for the Blues in 2004 SR.
They had Rok (their best player that year), Howlett, Wulf, Nacewa

@ACT-Crusader Yeah, can't remember how he played in super rugby that year. Fairly strong team overall though with a rubbish loose forward trio.

If ever there was a weekend for a Brian Lochore-style, "Gone to Auckland..." note on the fridge, it's this one.
Failing that, he could be playing in a Ranfurly shield challenge.
But, Big Brodie is doing neither of those things.
He's browsing the Off-Topic section to find the best craft beers with which to stock his fridge and to pick up handy hints on how to appropriately salt and marinate his brisket.

I wasn’t posting on the Fern at the time but had been lurking since the 03 Tri Nations, and I recall some angst/confusion on the Rush selection, Mils to the wing and Evans at fullback, Mertz back in the fold, Henry being Auckland centric with Tuitupo selection, Gibbes ‘are you kidding’
These aren’t my views and as I said earlier you could justify any selection eg Rush had a very good 04 Super campaign, but it did raise questions.
