Geez the Chiefs made some mistakes, but I think that was because the Lions went so bloody well!

They'll have a harder time of it when teams start taking them seriously.

But sheer determination gets the Lions over the line. Not the most talented bunch but Ackermann taught them the value of offloading and keeps them going at 110%

Weber fired up the Chiefs backline when he came on, and they showed some real class in the second half, but that first 40 was dire. I have serious concerns about the Chiefs scrum. They got owned by the Crusaders last week, and same thing happened again. Too many fat marshmallows.

Crazy how few Lions have got the Bok call up in the last few years.

Love their backrow.

Didn't catch the game but doesn't sound like I missed much. What a shit start to what'll be a fuckin tough next few weeks, with them flying from NZ to SA (which'll at least only be the Kings), then to Argentina and then straight back to NZ.

Trying to decide whether Rennie is increasingly relying on past glories, or whether it's just having too many powerpuffs to choose between in the tight five.

Not giving the Lions enough credit. But yes, Chiefs forwards don't look very efficient.

The way their backs were celebrating tries while still trailing didn't say much for determination either.

Damian McKenzie, apart from being small, has all the skills to play at a very high level but the arrogance is gonna hold him back.

Actually Unco you missed a cracker of a game. Doesn't make it bad because the Chiefs lost, that was a bloody good performance by the Lions!

How does it hold anyone back?

You don't work as hard as you should. Your game doesn't evolve. Your decision making differs. The list goes on.

You can disagree about his attitude though. Maybe I'm reading it all wrong and he's the first one at practice and the last one to leave. I'm just going by the little I've seen of him on the field.

Agree... but that's not McKenzie. Do you even know the first thing about him off the field?

I think he's confusing that smirky smile during his goal kicking with arrogance. Basically, that smile is just a ritual, or as Brad Weber posted on Twitter, he's going to his 'happy place' to kick well:

The smile is weird but I'm more referring to his OTT celebration when scoring. Way he went off you'd have thought they'd just won a title.

So an over the top try celebration automatically means a player is arrogant and doesn't stay behind and work hard after training. FFS, we know you Saffas have a reputation for being conservative but you don't need to pile on it.

I seem to recall Breyton Paulse doing some impressive post try celebrations, but I've never thought he came across as arrogant because of them.
