@Steven-Harris noooooooo he's a Chief. Develop your own players ya southern dogs.
Much like your other good local backs McKenzie, ALB, Smith etc
-
@shark lmao reply to my comment twice. ALB and McKenzie were both scouted out if high school and came to Waikato and the Chiefs young. Majority of their development would have done from the club and franchise. Unsure about the story with Alaimalo, but 4 years with the Chiefs is a decent amount of development.

I hope you're joking about St Bedes College-educated Solomon Alaimalo...? ๐
You really think you should be coming in throwing stones ... ? ๐

I'm perfectly entitled when a Christchurch schooled player is claimed as having been developed by the Chiefs. I'm not arguing the Crusaders don't recruit similarly, but I'm not going to proclaim wholeheartedly that we developed Brayden Ennor for example.

This was in a stuff article yesterday
Walden, 27, is without a Super Rugby contract at the moment after the Highlanders decided not to offer him an extension. He will use the Mitre 10 Cup to log some much-needed game time after being overlooked for Super Rugby Aotearoa in the Deep South, but if his form for Taranaki last weekend is any guide, the suitors will knock on his door.
-
yeah, im a bit dark on it all, even without the cards and brain farts Sio just doesn't do enough, doesn't create enough to get the free ride and number of "second" chances he gets
Walden is an actual leader who deserved better
-
i still hold out some hope our new coach will cut Sio and get Walden back in with a big apology

Heโd be a great buy for a Japanese club - not as expensive as an AB but has the tools to be successful and any lack of size he has in NZ wonโt be as much of an issue.
thats a good call, hope he gets picked up
-
Just wondering, but if the Crusaders don't replace Braydon Ennor with someone from their own academy, he might not be a bad signing for them either. Ennor is expected to be out for a large chunk of SR, depending on when that competition starts and ends. It would probably mean a bench spot at best, but that's more than Walden got at the Highlanders, this year.
-
@Stargazer why you got to be mean like that it kills me when people we havent given due respect to leave and its bad enough when they get picked up by another super team...but the saders....
-
@Kiwiwomble Well, the Highlanders haven't re-signed him. You'd want him to get a SR contract, preferably in NZ, don't you? I'm looking at what I think is best for him 'rugbywise', and don't care about the franchises.
-
@Stargazer i was just joking around...thought the crying cat face conveyed that

Nah we just though you were finally coming out as a furry
-
@Duluth what are the Highlanders doing? Surely Walden deserves his spot. Add this to the non-signing of Josh McKay and it makes for some weird decisions.
Both players will be welcomed with opens arms by other franchises.

Yeah this has pissed me right off this year. Pretty angry with them for letting him go but even more angry for just leaving him sitting around doing nothing when he's the best midfielder in the squad the last 3 years. His combination with Thompson was great too and look what happened to Thompson this year.
Surprised that with Mauger gone there wasn't a change in stance, but I hope Walden stays in NZ and shows us his potential.
