@Bovidae hope Taranaki wins the shield. When Canterbury won it Like Whitelock didn't look to happy about, kinda pisses you off when you see the captain with no passion for winning the shield.
I'd forgotten all about that. I think I complained about the lack of passion at the time. I don't feel as bad about having lost it now.

No one can compete with Ben Franks utter disgust at winning the Shield for the Magpies back when the Canes made him FIFO. That's him in the back right with hands on hips.
In all honesty, I expect that the players are happy to win - I think Luke Whitelock was born with resting old man face which doesn't lead itself to joy.

Big brother Sam had his grumpy face on yesterday.

its the beauty of the shield!

@Stargazer and then we can take it from you then I expect lose it to Waikato!

@Stargazer yep ABs going into camp in Whakatane. ABs won't be playing next weekend.
The camp is only Mon to Wed so I guess availability will depend on whether Foster and co release all of the squad to play or if the M10 Cup coaches select them without training with their provinces for most of the week. Foster did say not to expect all the ABs to be playing M10 from week 3. More likely some players will continue to play while others are rested.

@Kiwiwomble fuck I'll never forget that shield loss, Jono Armstrong form Waikato kicked an Otago player on the ground in the ruck and have away a penalty in the late second half when Waikato were hot on attack. At least Waikato smashed Otago in the final and got promoted. Probably rather have the shield tho.

Blanket availability of All Blacks is finished, but some could yet be released to their provincial unions in the coming weeks.
Ian Foster’s 35-man national squad, which is set to balloon by another 11 players shortly, formed in Whakatāne on Monday to begin preparing for the two looming Bledisloe Cup tests against Australia on home soil.
Another three-day camp is set for Hamilton next week, before the All Blacks base themselves in Wellington leading into Bledisloe I on October 11.
“All we’ve heard is that there may be some players released on a case-by-case scenario. Exactly when we find out, I’m not sure,” Canterbury coach Reuben Thorne said.
Given players are in camp in Whakatāne through Wednesday, teams shouldn’t expect to be notified before then.
As for when Foster names another 11 players to his whopping squad to travel to Australia for the Rugby Championship in November-December, he indicated last week he would decide in the “next week or two”, giving players ample time to prepare for nine weeks away from home.

@Duluth I know I keep banging on about this but we would have had 3 or 4 AB tests by now in normal times? I haven't missed them this year. I will miss the Ab's leaving the NPC though and it turning back into the dross we have experienced for the past couple of decades

agreed and otago dont even have any AB's! personally i think it comes down to playing the same teams so often! SA and Aus 2-3 times every year, at least the 6N only play each other once so theres something a bit more special about it
